Thanks for the photos Backtothefells. £10 donated to Malaria no More.
Does anyone know if there are plans to run a half skyline this year?
They were looking in to it. I'll ask
think this will be on my race list for next year and if my first mile of today is anything to go by should be there or there abouts
Oh well never mind. I won't be able to get fit enough post injury to attempt the full skyline. Maybe next year.
Thanks for looking into it.
Lad's Leap on the same day. Photos at Edale or Lad's Leap? mmmmmmm
Hoping to get out for a recce in the second week of February - if anyone is keen or planning recces too, feel free to PM me. Probably run Mam Tor - finish; likely to start from Edale.
online ENTRIES now open
Where?
There's a link via the Skyline page on DPFR website with all the info, but it's the Fabian4 online site you need to enter
Entry in, was filling quickly last I looked.
Anyone fancy a recce one weekday next week? Plan on running to Mam Tor from Edale, then going clockwise to finish. Probably recce the rougher route down to Grindsbrook & up Golden Clough seeing as I'm familiar with the other alternative. Perhaps a pint after if I get the train. Send me a PM if you're keen.
EDIT: I can't do Monday.
I'm keen for a recce, I was planning on maybe coming up last weekend in February. I have races every weekend up until then and as I'm not local I can't do week days...if you're up for that then let me know!
I would like to do a recce too if possible. I've got the last Sunday in Feb free also. Please let me know if I could tag along with someone more familiar with the area.
Eyup Ian, I'm probably going to head out on Tuesday this week. Looks like clag will be the order of the day. Your welcome to join me, your nav skills will be well received! I'll most likely be doing the recce highlighted above - not got in me for the whole thing after Long Mynd today. Let me know if you can make it.
You'll regret not coming out Sam
I did a bit on Kinder and crossed over to the Northern edge. Only saw 2 people on the southern edge and non on the other side. Blue sky and a constant cloud inversion...
and to top it off I had a Brocken Spectre for over an hour
Pictures here or for those wanting to see conditions, it's still covered in deep drifts and Ice. very slow going

Decent recce today on the last half of the route from Mam Tor. Very slow going through the snow still sat up on the hills - lots the flag stoned paths are not discernible for large parts. Enjoyed the descent to Grindsbrook though headed to Nag's Head for a flyer rather than up Golden Clough...
Such a great route, did it in deep snow a few months ago, it took over six hours and things got pretty serious on Brown Knoll when the weather changed for the worse. Hopefully the weather will be fine on race day!
Fresh snow on Kinder last night and Brown knoll was particularly boggy this morning!!

Important practical point: are the loos at Edale going to be fixed by race day? They were out of order on Weds this week on a first-half recce, presumably due to all the road holes made by the water board?
Weather looking... challenging
MetOffice forecast today for Mam Tor has:
Wind 30mph gusting up to 60mph. Significant rain likely. Temp 6degC but feeling nearer zero. Minimal chance of sunburn though
possibly a bit more sleet and snow

Well, that was a tough one! Very glad I took the car rather than rode to the he start as my legs are shot!
Just got under 4 hours, so a few minutes slower than last time I ran it, but I'm ecstatic with that given today's conditions.
Massive thanks to the marshalls and organization, must have been even tougher than running in that rank weather!

Arrived at Mam Nick with a couple of minutes before cut off but decided discretion was the better part of valour and chickened out and to be honest not too bothered. The weather took a turn for the worse after I'd jacked it. Great thanks to super organisation and all the marshalls/helpers and a particularly big thanks to the unknown lady with a small child who gave lift to one very muddy runner back to the finish!
Thanks to the marshals and organisers for a cracking run out..
I'm happy to have survived that.
Up to my waist in a peat bog about 18 miles in. A big thank you to the two runners who managed to yank me out of it, make yourselves known! That could have gone the other way if no one had spotted me
Well done to all who took part today, pretty bleak to say the least.
It goes with out saying but Mountain Rescue are amazing.
Yeah what happened with mountain rescue? I swear I saw someone in stretcher?
Cheers to the organisers and marshals, great race today. Thing were getting pretty blowy up on Grindslow Knowl and Ringing Rodger when I went through there ... hats off to all the guys up on the hill.
