The weather dolly got it right for once, made use of the midmorning break in the rain for a steady 90 minutes.
10 miles 1400ft
Went up Nr black clough to the Lab tea plant, across to the aircraft wreck (BLACKBURN BOTHA.) on Bleaklow Meadows (sound pretty doesn't it)NOT. up the other wreck (BOULTON AND PAUL DEFIANT) by Nr Bleaklow Stones. then up across to Bleaklow Stones. Followed HPM back to Wainstones before dropping back down to Woohead res Direct.
I was doing a Tank'ys recce a couple of weeks ago on Bleaklow looking for a more direct route between Clough Edge and PW (rain gauge turn off) and came across quite by accident the Superfortress crash site. I had heard about it before but it still came as a bit of a shock and I ended up stopping my recce and just going for a run on the PW instead.
The next time You are going up that way give a me a PM, there are lots of wrecks there abouts. 2 more apprx 1 mile west of the fortress. another on sykes moor just north of the PW above torside.
You also pass within 300m of 2 Meteors descending Blackhill
PS you were on one my TT routes;)
