Re: UKA British Fell & Hill Re
Phew... well, I hope everyone enjoyed their day.

We ran leg 1 but would be very interested to know the distance and ascent
Our estimates, the result of making measurements from a 1:25k map, were 16.5km & 1000m ascent (10.3 miles and 3283ft in old money).

Full results would be good - any links yet?
Oh c'mon... Please give Martin a chance to get home from Fife and update the SportIdent site:)
I've got a print out of interim results as they stood at about 15:30. Rest assured, once the full results are published I'll add a link here, unless someone gets there first (I'm driving most of the day Monday).
But you might be interested in fastest legs (men):
Leg 1 Jethro Lennox, Tom Owens (Shets) 1:17:46
Leg 2 Jonathan Brownlee (Bingley) 39:25
Leg 3 Rhys Findlay-Robin, Neil Northrop (Mercia) 1:07:26
Leg 4 nick Swinburn (NFR) 38:09
I could look up fastest leg times for the women but this'll require rather more scrutiny of the results and frankly, having partaken of something alcoholic, may not be 100% accurate.:D Tomorrow then.
Should anyone wonder why the mass start didn't take place at 15:00 as advertised, I didn't see the point in keeping the 20 or Leg 4 cold-looking runners waiting any longer than was strictly necessary. And if the leg 4 runners were looking cold, pity the marshalls up on East Lomond.
Apologies to any teams who wanted/expected to hand over to their last runner and missed out. I hope can you understand why we brought the start time forward a little.

That should be Graham Gristwood and some other dude for Murcia.
Rhys and Neil ran for Dark Peak
Re: UKA British Fell & Hill Re
Thanks to the organisers and marshalls for helping put on a grand day :-) Durham Fell Runners had 3 teams entered this year, not bad for a club with with only 60 odd members. The senior mens team I was running leg 4 for ended up placing 27th, a fair effort which we were happy with, although a top 20 spot was our goal. These events make you realise the strength and amount of good good fell running clubs out there.
On a personal note, I ran full of pain killers as I havent been able to walk without a limp for 2 weeks (so havent ran), and they did an amazing job in masking the pain, but now theyve wore off, my leg is wrecked :/// The solo leg was a great route I thought, I was loving the flat section out the back, no one was going to catch me on that, took 4 places on my leg so I was pleased :-)
Thanks again to all involved in organising the event, job well done :-)
Re: UKA British Fell & Hill Re
Back home now after a five hour trip. What a great weekend. Jos Naylor award on Saturday night in Wasdale then played my part in bringing Mercia V50 team home for the silver Medal.
I thought the whole event from start to finish was extremley well organised and the Lomond hills an ideal venue. Just celerbrating with a few bottles of Abbott...
Thanks to all at Mercia for great organising and Support.

I've never even seen those days ;)
Unfortunately I was unable to attend, so just keen to see how my troops performed.
Noticed the National Road Relays all on by tea time the same day - Sportident has some catching up to do on www.race-results.co.uk and the mighty Graham Fecitt :)
Anyway - here they are - not too bad ;)

Re: UKA British Fell & Hill Re
Good weekend. Well organised.
Wasn't sure about the venue but gave some good legs and good fell running terrain. Ran legs 2 and 4 the day before, nice running, good mix of terrain. Did the Nav leg, was OK, reckon we lost most of our time on the last two stages, decided to traverse 5>6 rather than going by the track, risk that didn't pay off by the looks of things, and then didn't know that we could have been more direct on the route off from 6 to the finish, we almost reversed our route in..
Re: UKA British Fell & Hill Re
Nice photos Chris, good to see you getting a shot of our maverick (direct) line from the start...
Re: UKA British Fell & Hill Re
Funniest moment of the day for me was when the tannoy announcer said that Edinburgh Uni Leg 1 runners were just entering the finish field, at which point their Leg 2 runner made a rapid dash from the marquee at the top of the field and just made it to the change-over point in time.
