Cheers, knew someone would be on to it. Hope it goes ahead. Last year's conditions and the area make this appeal lots (that comment might come back to haunt me eh?!).
evening all ,anybody heard anything on the event yet ? theres still no details on the site. whats the number of entries does anyone know ? im just keen to make sure i dont miss out on an entry sounds a good day out courtesy of mr ham
old un. I've contacted Joe, who said keep monitoring the website for details. He did say it will be on 17th December from the same place as last year.
cheers nick thats great news i'll keep an eye on it. are you doing it again this year ? it will be good to say hi, its probably been a couple years since we last ran or chatted.
Hi Nick,
I fancy a trot out to this, missed it last year, your write up is great:)
Andy.
Hoping to do this one. Can anyone provide route details? Cheers
I should think only Joe knows. On 2 April I had an email from him:
"As you may be aware, we ran into (no pun intended!) access difficulties with United Utilities prior to our recent Tour de Kentmere run. Conseqeuntly, we have currently suspended further entries for this year's Tour whilst we consider our options. Currently, there are just three entrants (and I'm one of them) and whilst we hope to stage some form of run, in December, we will update you in due course."
I don't know who the third entrant is, & I haven't heard anything more. I haven't had my entry fee back though, so I'm hoping it will still go ahead. There was a route description, although I haven't got a copy & it's not up on the website now as far as I can see. I did however mark my map up, so I can tell you where it was going to go. I should think there's every chance it will be different now if it goes ahead though.
Start: Askham (GR513237)
WSW on bridleway to Howtown, road to CP1/CP8 at Martindale Church (GR436192)
Road to Boredale Head, bridleway to Boredale Hause & down to CP2/CP7 at Patterdale (GR396158)
Glenridding then up Glenridding Beck to the YH & up the Sticks Pass path to CP3 by footbridge (GR359179)
Over Sticks Pass & down to Sty Beck & CP4 by footbridge (GR321189)
FP above intake southwards parallel to A591, then descend to CP5 in car park (GR316168)
Permissive path through forestry southwards to Dunmail Raise (CP6 I think, but I've erased this bit from my map!)
Up Raise Back, past Grisedale Tarn & down Grisedale Beck to rejoin outward route at Patterdale.
...all GRs are approx, from my map not Joe's route description.
Thanks.
I didn't realise that this years run (if it goes ahead) might be a different route than last years.
Hopefully if Joe is reading this forum he will realise there are a reasonable number who have expressed an interest in taking part.
hopefully he will, theres you , me + another lad im running with, and we've bought some kahtoola's as well
