Re: Rombald`s Stride 2009
Thanks everyone ! Ptaying for a frozen Ilkley Moor as ever...
Re: Rombald`s Stride 2009
Race specific entry forms usually come out about this time at Aireborough Leisure Centre, but I haven't seen any yet. Missed it last year for the first time in ages. Looking forward to doing it again. Frozen and foggy would be good :)
Re: Rombald`s Stride 2009
The forms ARE out - there was a pile at Burley Bridge last weekend. I'd stick a copy of mine on here, but it's now lacking its bottom section...
I suggest you try the contact details provided by Derby Tup above.
Re: Rombald`s Stride 2009
Have just received the route description for this year and note that there's a significant extra loop involved. The route now carries on across the moor beyond Whetstone Gate past Buck Stones as far as the boundary stone, before striking north to Piper's Crag and east back to Wells Road. More miles, better value for money....:eek:
Re: Rombald`s Stride 2009
It's supposed to be the same (short) miles I think, TF. The extra loop after Whetstone gate is to make up for the quicker finish that avoids the out-and-back to the the last checkpoint in the carpark. After the steep climb and self clip, its pretty well straight on towards the finish via a new checkpoint in a quarry.
I've got my number back already - number 17. I love this event and can't wait. Like others said, let's hope it is frozen.
Re: Rombald`s Stride 2009
Be aware that Morrisons Guiseley has now a 3hr parking limit - could be an incentive to get back in 3hrs? Think not!

Thanks BritNick, I'd missed the fact that there's a new checkpoint near the end. Because the previous Chevin checkpoint had also been in a quarry, I assumed it was the same one ( I know I should have plotted the grid refs, but I'd only had a quick initial sken).
I must admit that I couldn't quite square the route description form there back to St Oswald's!
It still might be a bit slower, because the high Rombald's Moor section is slower and saps more strength than that good quality track along the Chevin and back; but at least the changes aren't as bad as I'd feared!
