danbert, for United he scored 1 every 3 games, for City, 2 every 3. For us he just wasn't that good. he worked hard, fans liked him, but too many times when we rested Rooney and selected him he didn't come up with the goods.
The facts speak for themselves, 29 appearances, 5 league goals for us last season. That's not £25m talent. Now you'll say, 'neither is Berbatov', I probably agree, he's a talented player, I just don't think he's worked.
As you keep reminding us, United's financial mght has dwindled, so Fergie has to spend wisely from now on and £25 million on a player who only came alive when he needed a new contract was probably a risk too great.
Fergies won enough in England and Scotland for the likes of me to just accept his decisions, they aren't alway's spot on, but he;'s right more often that anyone else, hence why the man has been so bloody successful
Iain (started life in M33, lived in many many different post codes, but one club man, I was just born lucky!).

Newton Heath founded 1878,Newton Heath LYR, 'The Heathens',they didn't drop the LYR until 1890 & the Y stands for Yorkshire making them half a YORKSHIRE CLUB.
They didn't play football until 1880,
They didn't become part of Manchester until 1890,
They didn't become "United" until 1902,
They got evicted in 1910
and we haven't seen them in Manchester since,

Interesting one i heard on the radio today. Which club would be best job for Mourinho. Would it be Mcfc or Mufc. I am a fan of neither so no axe to grind but knowing mourinho's ego i think Mufc would be the job he would go for because winning stuff with Mcfc would open him up to "well any half decent manager could do it because of the money". On the other hand if he were to actually carry on from Ferguson a nigh on impossible job and set the club up for decades more glory. He would become a legend and that is what would appeal to him. What do you guys think ?.

Head says manu. Heart says he'll go and watch the Robin hood film that's due out and he'll somehow be convinced to come and manage newly promoted Forest.... Well it could happen...

I thought Danbert was bad harping back to successes of old, but having to go back to 1888? :D:D:D
We obviously have a large debt of gratitude to the likes of Accrington, Stoke, Burnley and Blackburn as well so thank you for allowing us into your () football league.

You do. As for the other teams they were in the first league but they never formed the league that was the then director of Aston villa who also put the money up to finance it.

I keep clicking on the football thread to see if somebody has posted something interesting on there and its just full of this garbage.
Man Utd are just wonderful, you've won lots of trophies. We get it. Is it possible we can change the subject now?

:)
Man Utd = corporate brand, good manager, insufferably arrogant, bought success in the 1990s.
Man City = perennial underachievers, series of crap managers, chip on their shoulders, about to try and buy success.
Not much more to say from my POV.

OK.
Fashion clearly has a bearing on a team's success in major tournaments. Argentina wore almost rudely short shorts and won two world cups, Italy brought us those daft tight tops and then won the world cup.
England should be the first team to play in fish-net socks. Discuss.

Aren't you the serious one! It's called banter and football wouldn't be the same without it. I can't speak for Danbert but I'd happily go for a pint with him and talk football; we wouldn't agree on much but there's nothing wrong with a bit of harmless ribbing (that's what I was doing rather than say how wonderful Utd are).
You need to chill out a little.

Oh I enjoy quick witted banter as much as the next football fan. Just not noticed much of it.
Now where did I put those chill pills.

Care to explain your reasoning behind this?
Schmeichel - ~ £850,000
Cantona - £1.2m
Irwin - £625,000
Bruce - £800,000
Pallister - £2.3m
Keane - £3.75m
Cole - £7.0m
G Neville - Free
P Neville - Free
Scholes - Free
Beckham - Free
Sharpe - Free
Giggs - Free
Butt - Free
Brown - Free
Considering the above players formed the backbone of the team for most of the 90s, that's hardly excessive is it? Cole and Keane were British records but when you've hardly spent anything anything on the rest of the team, is that not allowed?
Have a look here:
http://transferleague.co.uk/
Since the inception of the Premier League United's net transfer spend is 6th of the current clubs, below Aston Villa, Tottenham, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea.
