What a fantastic day!
It was our first time as a club at this event and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
A big vote of thanks to Bingley Harriers and all involved with race organisation and marshalling, there really is nothing more they could have done to improve it, even the weather was superb.
As an East Midlands based road and XC club we might have been excused for feeling a bit out of our depth but everyone we met made us feel very welcome both at the event and in the pubs before and afterwards, we all went home chuffed to bits just to have been part of it.:)

It was a great day out and made even more so by our girls taking a very unexpected bronze medal. What a way for Jo Waites to celebrate her 40th birthday and comeback to the fells after along very frustrating battle with one injury after another. We did get told off (not by anyone for Bingley I should add) that we were abit loud in our support of our teams but hey if you can't support your club members on a great event in the SUNSHINE well it's a sad do. Thanks Bingley it was one to remember.

We did our entries as first come first served this year for both the men and women so were very pleased with popping the cherries of 10 new road runners between our 2 teams. A great day out.
Sadly I seem to missing from all of the photo sets! Surely I'm not that ugly?
Dont forget, after leg 1 there were 2 East Midlands road running teams in the the top 10! Ok the lack of strength in depth kind of showed after that.....Quote:

brilliant day out, best day in the racing calendar for sure. Great route for leg 2 loved it, although I had to wait a lot, atleast got to admire the surrounds!!! Great organisation, thanks to everyone involved, awesome :) ps the ale in the kings head was rank

Well with the Sheffield University treadmill of talent into the DP Stable (10 of their 12 senior men's runners are/have been in ShUOC) don't put it past them.
They all took great delight in ribbing me for my 'score course' attempt on the nav leg in the pub back in Sheffield - still, at least we got to see the leaders going through!
As MK NXN says, all legs won by Orienteers!
Cracking event (one small point - stock up on extra bog rolls so we can fully enjoy the toilets you put so much effort in to!), where's it at next year?

I took a few pictures which are here. As I got up early on Saturday morning I headed up the hill and got some fantastic shots of the inversion layer hovering over Kettlewell, the moon setting and the sun rising.

In this year's race information there is a recommendation that runners should have completed at least two cat A races. Last year I think it was two cat BM races?
Does anyone know why the ante has been upped? Are the courses expected to be tougher this year?
Also would runners with experience of several cat B races but little or no experience at cat A be precluded?
It's a recommendation so not likely to be a mandatory requirement. Mind you I would guess that all the legs at Church Stretton will be somewhere between A and Triple A so the recommendation makes sense.
Does anyone know if entries have been filled yet ???
