Auntie Sally was there, I saw him too ;)
Many thanks for your kind comments. Really glad so many of you enjoyed the day. Cannot accept all the compliments for myself. There is a certain lady called Carole who is perspiring! in the kitchen all day and for several weeks before hand along with several others who give unstinting service each year and who are too numerous to name. Keep coming back. We all enjoy your camararderie and your unfailing support.
Think I will leave the results until the morning.
Have a peaceful evening John. You've earnt it :)
Well done all, nice to catch up with so many people.
Some cracking runs too.
First Hebden for me, and what a well organised event.
Started off at the first checkpoint with a big slab of chocolate cake, then chocolate bars, malt loaf and more chocolate.
I love chocolate!!!!
Thanks to Allan and all his helpers for making it a cracking event.
Did AS actually run or just turn up at registration and hide in the toilets?:D
:DYou're so mischeivous Mr Foster
Just to echo what's been said.
Thanks Alan and Carole for a fantastic morning. Stanners, fab run. You kept that quiet when I was talking to you back in Mytholmroyd.
Nice to see so many forumites out and about. Only went wrong twice, which isn't a bad aggregate for me.
I know another forumite who bears a striking resemblance to AS. It may be him that people are mistaking for the great man.
Cheers DT! You have blown my cover!!!! I was hoping to keep that little event to myself.......s'pose I'll have to commit now:rolleyes:
What a day out! I had heard so many good things about this event, it certainly lived up to it's reputation.
Big thanks to Alan and his excellent team.
Lovely to meet the following forumites for the first time
Mountain Goatess, (Well done:) you really showed some grit in the last few miles)
Pilgrim,
Tusssockface,
Mrs Stagger
Oh and of course all the usual supsects, ML,DT,AS.
Forum's no place for secrets Steamy! :p If you you fancy a run out in the Dales one weekend give me a shout. I've got a nice little 25miler that'd be ideal training
Turned up and started off, but felt knackered at cp3 and just did the 14, have dropped the cycling lately and increased running mileage considerably to last year as my (recurrent injury problem seems under control) and its beginning to take its toll.
Need to recuperate a bit ready for Pennine and trog me thinks
You could have had my autograph too, as I was in MG and Mrs Stagger's group at that point (black Fell Pony garb.) Glad you enjoyed the event; long route next year?
There are a few terrifying forumites, but not in our part of the pack; and in any case, rumour has it that Antisocial was hiding in the toilets...
Like OG and DJ, I also started late as my way over was unexpectedly blocked by sheet ice. I didn't give everybody else as generous a start as they did, however.
Sorry this meant that I missed meeting a lot of people, though I did spend quite a lot of time en route exchanging pleasantries with MG, Mrs S and Steampig, and also a Derby supporter (it wasn't DT, it was the other one) who stuck to me like a limpet from Hardcastle Crags onwards.
Was a bit worried at the end when they threatened me with having to go round again for losing my tag ....fortunately, it was brought in at that moment, having been located somewhere in the depths of Cragg Vale.
Cracking event as always, thanks to all the helpers.
Results up with impressive speed at

Well done Aunty Sally - you obviously emerged from the toilet for long enough to achieve a podium finish in the 'short' event.
Firstly ,many thanks to Alan, Carole and all the helpers for putting on a
fantastic day ,well done to you all .
Does anyone know who was taking the photos of us just before the railway
footbridge ? If so can I have a copy -I'm the runner with the Marmite top on
I've just looked at the results but can't seem to find the times for the Long
Route Runners, have they been missed off ? or am I just not looking hard
enough ?
Thanks for that ,shows how often I use spreadsheets !

Eh? "My pillar box has got hives"????
Glad to hear all went well. Pleased with your time Clive? ... looked a good 'un to me.
Ducked out of this in favour of the postponed Macc Harriers Fell Handicap on Sunday. I opted to up the mileage and do two laps (equating to ~30 miles and 7500'), so was the only entrant to arrive at the start with a headtorch - left home before 7am. Long day, and very sociable, but I couldn't face the last 3-4 miles once I'd warmed up with cake and soup, so blagged a lift home. Plenty of snow on the top of Shining Tor though, and it was falling thick and fast...
Very pretty and I didn't mind living up to the "Lantern Rouge" moniker!;)
Sorry I missed the pub... sounds a good 'networking' session!
Have to do the Hebden another year.
Delayed thanks from me to Alan, Carole and crew for another excellent Hebden. Even though it was 2 weeks later than usual it still turned out to be the first event of the year, thanks to the weather.
It was good to meet you Merrylegs, and Duracell, Socks, Chris, Splatcher, etc.
Thanks to some serious unfitness on my part this turned out to be a Personal Worst. Be positive; it's the beginning of an uphill climb to fitness. Next one's That's Lyth!
Enjoyed the Hebden. The route was tougher than i expected but good. This was my 2nd event of the year. The 1st being the Hangover Hike on new years day. A small event but worth doing especially if you want to get rid of a bad head from the previous night
I wrote a report for Strider (LDWA magazine). Not sure if it will get published - if not it was probably too long, even though it was the abridged version.
I uploaded a slightly extended(!) version to my blog. The pictures I took are linked. Happy reading. If you find it bland and boring, bear in mind it's raw and raunchy compared to the abridged version. ;)
The website for the above has now been set up and can be accessed at www.alangreenwood.biz/index.html Same people, same route, same food, same enjoyment.
I'm in - one of my favourites.
Entered.
This can mean only one thing..............it'll soon be Christmas!
Merrylegs asked me to post this for you Alan:wink:
