Glen Nevis campsite is very accommodating - excellent facilities and plenty of choice of where to pitch your tent. Not too far to walk into Fort William - theres even a bus if your legs are too kna****ed after the effort on Sat PM

Hi Guys
Am I correct in assuming to wear fell shoes and not multi terrain?
Any comments appreciated (well, not derogatory!)
Grog and Grewel the night before and eve/night after?
Glen Nevis YH?
Anybody whos intrested a few of us get together in the Imperial hotel bar on Friday night before the race where we have a sweepstake, You put a pound in and have a guess at your finishing time, We meet at the same place after the presentation on Sat night about nine and present the nearest to their finishing time with the total of all entries. Its quite intresting to see the differences in estimated to actual.
Only a week to go - I cant believe this thread has been more or less on the front page for nearly 12 months. Who's going to start 2008 thread - anybody got an entry yet??;)
Blimey..... you've all been training (lots & lots & lotz).... I'll just have a go....
Only 168.5 Hours to go.
Are you nervous!
You should be.
I believe that there is still snow on the top this year !!!!
Alsoran, setting the hares running, talking about 2008 entries alaready. Good on ya!
See you at Pendleton today, a good warm up for next week.
is any one stayin at the lime tree galery hotel.the cruachan hotel is very nice and might have some mountain bikers there if there is anyone that is intrested
the mountain bike course may be open so if any one wants to bring their bike and go for a ride with me and marvin.thats if it is open.
I'm off up there in the morning to spend the week in Fort William prior to the race at weekend. I might check out the zig zags to halfway and see if there are any shortcuts!
Serious training finished today with a blast at Grasmere - as already reported by Harry H Howgill, Rob Jebb just missed the record by 20 secs - by a strange co-incidence I also missed a PB by 20 secs!! The omens are good for a PB on the Ben.
We're travelling up on Wednesday. Which watering hole does everyone use? I've seen mention of the Imperial and the Grog and Gruel.
I've just e-mailed that Race Secretary to ask about arrangements for registration and prizegiving (not that I've even the remotest chance of getting anything). I received this reply:
"Registration commences at 11am on the field, prizegiving now at 8:30pm in the Nevis Centre"
The field is New Town Park
The Imperial always used to be the unofficial fell drinking hole post race.
There are a multitude of short cuts up the zig zags. Basically, no-one zigs or zags but goes straight up...just follow the crowd!:D
Wheeze PB 1 :49. Enjoy!
I think its the early zig zags you can find the short cuts on, the ones before the metal bridges. I have tried various ways some good some bad.
Also Ran gave me a good tip for a short cut which im going to recce early Sat. morning but thats our secret !!!!!!!!
 anyone going to race and got a number not running i am thinking going up to watch would like a run.
send me a private message
It's like this. When the path goes the right way, you use it. When it doesn't, you go straight up/down. Very simple really.
In fell running it is important that the race organisers are aware that somebody else is running with your number.
If the other athlete gets lost, is seriously injured or worse, then the organisers will contact the person named on their entry list and this could have serious consequences.
Please ALWAYS use the proper channels for exchanging numbers.
o right thats just the other side of fort william
AARRGH! I want to come and watch the race and join in the celebrations after! But have got to run a stupid relay round Leeds on the sunday lunchtime! AAARRRGH! anyone taking a jumbo jet up that can drop me off somehwere over NW Leeds with a parachute?
Metcheck says rain rain rain yesssssssssssssssssssssss
So let's make that an unofficial forum-gathering gang! Say 8:00pm Friday evening at the Imperial :)
Pre AND post for us Wharfedalers for the past N years! Good forum record there Wheeze. Wonder if any of us'll get any where near it (I know for sure I wont!)
Right. So, I'm on yer shoulder till half way to Red Burn then! ;)
Don't worry Daleside, we'll (try, really very hard) not to tell you what a good weekend you're missing (...at least we will if we get down again in one piece )
Yuk. There goes my hot-sunny-weather hoped for advantage for getting near Grifter. :(
Hang on Stick, How many times has it rained the last few times we have raced ??? Bring on the sun no problem!!!!!
Careful Stick dont tempt fate !!!!
