bump for this year!
I'll be there, trying to improve on my 28:04 from last year :D
who else might I stumble across...?
Gonna try and get along for this race today should be a few from our Club Penny Lane taking part hopefully - not sure whether I will be running yet or photographing the race.
Done my back in on Tuesday - should be back running tomorrow but can't race today.
I intend to get there to watch though - but I'm off to Pendle first to watch some of my kids race.
M6 closed near Lancaster so i didnt bother trying to get there
Tom Cornthwaite BBH - 1st:):):)
I think it was Ricky Lightfoot 2nd, then Rob & Dannny Hope with Josh Tighe in 5th after a fall on the descent.
Junior Laura Riches won the ladies race with a super run. WPette 4th lady with a cold.
A great race as usual.
Cracking race but my knees are screwed over now
Well done to WPette....tried to get you on the up and was catching on the down but not a chance
Well this was my first ever race.
finished in 119th place in 28.08
so quite pleased:)
could have done with my mudclaws near the top but not sure my knees would take them on the downhill tarmac section:eek:
Craig.

Some great pics there Pinno - impressed with the qua;ity as well - no blurry images with some quick fire work.
Just one thought - did you not turn round and catch them on the way back?
Does anyone know if Blackburn claimed the prize of first mens team?
I do.
I pointed out to one of the Horwich committee that Ricky was 2nd claim and that he should not be counted if the race was held under first claim rules only - which was my understanding.
I also advised TomCee to make sure the organisers knew that Ricky was 2nd claim fell.
He did this prior to the presention.
They apparently felt that it was fine - I must admit to being a tad surprised.
So in fact we alerted Horwich to the potential Non-Counter status of Ricky on several fronts before the decision was made.
Interesting. Although, not that surprised.
There's no other considerations to my knowledge.
Races like this are very much individual events. Does anyone go to Rivington with a team manager?
I haven't actually spoken to Ricky as he had to leave straight after the race, and I didn't know he had entered as a BBH runner until I saw him coming up the Pike in a Harriers vest.
He probably wasn't aware that he should have ran as Ellenborough or Blackburn N/C.
So as soon as I came down to the finish I contacted one of the Horwich Committee, as I said, and I know he has been involved with the race organisation so he was an appropriate person to contact.
I also asked Tom to make sure he mentioned it before the presentation, and I know that he did.
The race organisers apparently just shrugged and accepted that it was fine.
I presume P&B didn't raise an objection?
I also presume that Mr Ricepudding is asking as he is just interested.
As team manager, I can confirm that all the members of the winning ladies team are first claim members of Altrincham.:)
It would have been amazing if our men had won as our first counter was U17 and the second over 65!
Thanks WP,
Like Mr RP just interested in the workings - no axe to grind.
Unlikely P&B will be contacting the UN, although they might want some ale next time out. :)
If the prize was Thwaites beer the P&B had a let off ;)
Good to see Dr Hill on the results
To back up WP, it was a strange situation with the team prize - we knew it was close (thinking 3 to count without ricky) and when they announced us I was made up that we'd done it! Then they announced the names, and I made a point of mentioning it to the organisers who didn't seem too bothered.
I'm not sure what the P&B lads got for second team - they'll have to battle my mum for the bottle of wine though!
Unless things have changed, I recall there being no such thing as second claim in fell running (as there is for road, track and XC). It's in the FRA rules for competition. You must choose one club and stick to it for the fells. This may be a different club to your other first claim club, whose permission you will need to seek if they affiliate to fells.
I suppose non-championship event organisers are free to waive this, but why complicate matters just to sweep up the prizes?
I'm looking forward to taking on "Limited Edition" again at Gummers How...
We can only declare our hand - which you can see 2 of us did - the result surprised me - but the matter is not in my hands.
There is 2nd claim in all disciplines. It's just that many events do not allow 2nd claim athletes.
just like manchester united using liverpools torres as a sub.
