If you really have a complaint about the FRA, please address it to me directly. My contact details are readily available from the magazine, website, handbook etc.
The forum is a good place for airing opinions - and everybody is free to do that, members, non-members, committee members, grumps - they are all entitled to their own opinions.

Actually you weren't Graham - at least that's not how I interpret what you said. I did find your postings quite aloof.
Alluding that certain forumites were dim, uncontrollable fellrunners, and post 774 further emphasises that you are of the opinion that the majority of posters on this topic are dim and ill informed.
Following the Sportsunday post it seems it is not quite as cut and dry as you were making it out to be - ie. UU, Tenant framers, the Grump etc are all good, the plebes are all dim.

On a positive note, I see that the PBR interactive map shows the location of the two most 'sensitive' gates, and emphasises the need to comply with PBR rule 19.

Interesting that there's two rule 19's :confused: It always surprises me that this has to be stated over and over again though, when you open a gate you close it afterwards, simples.
Interesting to see that gps as a navigational aid are not allowed (fair enough), but you are allowed to carry or wear such devices to record your run. How on earth that could be successfully policed I have no idea

I think that the problem could be one team opens a gate but doesnt close it because there is another team approaching. If they then leave it open for another team following them, the third team might not realise that the gate needs closing if they were out of sight when the first team went through.
Then again there might be some ignorant bastards who think 'f**k it closing the gate will cost us a few seconds' but you would hope these are few and far between

Ultimately everyone just has to shut gates, except where it is not feasible as the runners behind are already at the gate and we have to accept that it is not ignorant when someone in front of us closes the gate on us.

On the first leg of Calderdale 2 years ago the team about 50 yards in front of us opened a gate and it fell off its hinges, just in case it happens agian what is the correct procedure to follow in this situation
