Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Still building mileage? There's a 26 mile training run from Heptonstall on Sunday (about 20 of us running) - following the route of the 6 Trigs / Mag 7.
Mixture of Tod Harriers and CVFR plus a load of forumites from various clubs - all welcome.
See Mag 7 thread if you're interested.

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
What trainers should I wear?
Are innov-8s value for money?
Why is it classed as an A race?
How come it's now measured in metric units?
If it gets dark can anyone recommend a decent head torch?
Can I get away with pertex?
If there's a queue for a stile can I jump over a wall?
Will deep knee squats help my training?
and can someone pick up my discarded gel wrappers?
;)

Well maybe not but I do have a bit of pain at the top of my tibia- and through the powers of self diagnosis, using Google which I know is probably dangerous, I'm thinking its my Patella Tendon where it joins onto my tibia. I've kept running on it but its not getting better so i'm gunna have a few weeks off. Cant even bike without aggravating it so its bye bye to any fitness I had. Just gunna keep crying myself to sleep at night and hope it gets better!

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
"What trainers should I wear?" Inov-8 Roclite 315
"Are innov-8s value for money?" NO!
"Why is it classed as an A race?" Cos it's hard!

Work gets in the way, as does doing my house up and looking after a 12 year old half the week.
I'm still racing though. Nearly got the violin out Tom.
How will you cope when you join the real world. Lol:p;)

Is anyone else having trouble pre-ordering the Souvenir T Shirt on the sportident website. I've logged -in but can't seem to be able to order the shirt.:closed: If all else fails I'll just order it by post but I wanted to pick it up on the day, and the only way to do that is through the sportident website.

You have a pub in the walking capital of North Yorks. what do you get, signs all over the pub. Don't do this, don't do that , do not dare to enjoy yourself in my showpeice pub. He will no doubt happily take your money on 3P day though. He won't be taking mine ,I,ll go to the Lion down the road. This snooty pub has always been the same

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
I'm so jealous of everyone, I wish I could do it again this year. We ran Whernside and Ingleborough via the path behind the Crown which worked out 18.5 miles in 3hrs. If we had kept at that pace and done PYG as well it would be comfortably under 4hrs for the whole route :) Not bad for a training run.
I'll be having a good go next year I reckon.

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Anyone got an entry spare or know where i could get one please.....

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Is is wise to do anniversary waltz the week before or should I be tapering?
-
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Maggie - I did it in 2008 with a week between and was fine. It was actually my fastest of my 3 PPP runs.
I'm doing AW again this year before the Peaks.
For your info I'm just a steady fell plodder who typically gets by of 20 odd miles per week who will get around AW in about 2:30 and PPP in about 4:50

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
What drinks are supplied at the drinks stations? I hate carrying bottles but very nearly bonked at Edale recently and planning how to avoid it occuring next week. Realise you can send drinks to Ribblehead and Hill Inn but not sure how easy it'll be to find mine and was wondering what the standard drinks are.....I'm guessing it's adams ale!
-
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
I sent drinks last year for the first time and found them no problem - just label them up well. You can also tape gels or bananas to them as well.
They have water as well at various points.
I still carry a bit for emergencies mind you:)

I didn't last year but really regretted it and by Ingleborough was absolutely parched! I'm considering sending drinks ahead but I think I'll wait to see what the weather's doing - if it's hot and sunny I definitely will.
I was fine at Edale this year, just drank two cups at each station and had 500ml with me.

Maggie I've decided definitely not, even though I'll be there at the AW to support the juniors. I have to save my knees now - they are feeling it after a long run yesterday and won't recover in time if I race that one too.

I would go for it personally. I was hoping to do Teenager with Altitude but there weren't any places left, so I've opted for Y Moelwyn which is similar (a little easier that Anniversary Waltz). It all depends how fast you recover I suppose!

Yeah standard drink is water, but label youre drinks bottle at the satrt and place them in the relevant boxes at the start and they'll be there waiting for you at either Ribblehead or Chapel le Dale. They usually lay the bottles out in numerical order so as they spot a runner coming towards the feed station they easily find your bottle and hand it to you without you even thinking about it, it was great, and all with a nice smile,
well, that what happened to me anyhow.

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Now there is less than a week to go I'm just beginning to get a little concerned that I can't find the race entry list (with race numbers etc.) on the 3 Peaks website - just previous years ones. Am I doing something wrong, or is the list not yet available - the website says: "Entry details to the 58th Three Peaks Race will be available here shortly after entries close on the 31st March 2012"?

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I was actually looking for the race organisers entry list, done in alphabetical order of the entrants running club, which includes the race number. Theoretically you need to have this for registration and the SI entries list doesn't include it.
-
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
To answer my own, question the list has just appeared here: http://www.threepeaksrace.org.uk/3Pe...ist%202012.pdf

Cheers Sam, I recognise your picture, I followed you down the final descent but couldn't catch you!! I too drank exactly the same as you but found it wasn't enough although I did come down with a bug a day or two afterwards so maybe this had something to do with it. Did Edale in 3.30 in 2011 so was quite disappointed this year. No idea what to expect at 3 Peaks? I'll say hello if I see you on Saturday

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Hi, new here!
entered into 3 peaks race, expecting for a rough ride - won't have run a race as tough as this before and also sporting a few injuries so going into it with lack of training and a couple of weak links in the body! Excited for it though!
need an advice, we need to carry a hat with us. Is a buff classed as a hat? I can wear it on my head and it retains heat, so I would say yes - but a second opinion would be appreciated :)
thanks!
