I usually start feeling it at Mankinholes as well but faired better this time. Made it to Midgehole then that steady climb found me out.

i was 13 mins slower this yr but still really enjoyed it. thanks to brett and all. and i'll try and not be the number-numpTy next yr ;)

oh and no i didnt wear road shoes in the end. thank fgoodness. was surprised how wet it was from just Fri nites rain.

Hi plodding bear. It was good chatting to you, Louise & John. Found it a tough day out but really enjoyed it definitely go under eight hours next year.

I headed straight for stew & tea afterwards followed by a couple of those scrumptious cakes.

Good luck with the Fellsman - I might give it a go next year! :eek:

Tony, what's this, a would be fell runner on our forum, shouldn't you be staying on TriTalk where you belong! Ok ok if I'd have known that there were some chumps gasping for water whilst passing my house I might have provided some kind of liquid refreshment!

Chatting up some bird, please Tony, some decorum. I prefer the phrase..... speaking with Lisa my neighbour discussing the merits of changing career, which she is planning, I am going thru, and my bird, who was in my house at the time, has already done very recently!

Oh good job you didn't want to stay the preceding night as it was compulsary Fri night to have a good sesh down the Fox and Goose, bird an' all!

The dog got round in 3 hours 55 minutes. Could have been quicker but held up by owner. She had done High Peak Marathon in 10 hours 15 minutes previous weekend. Slept for the afternoon after that one.

Surely 4:55, Bryan? Even that's impressive but 3:55 would have beaten the winner. ;)

I have no idea who the SIA think they are, but I have had two people waving SIA cards in front of me. One was someone from the Haworth car park extorting money from me, the other was a thug (sorry, I meant to write "head of security") at Ikea in Bristol accusing me of shoplifting (he was unable to point out which item of my fell running kit in my rucksack belonged to Ikea: funnily enough).

Whoever they are, I think they need sorting out. I certainly hope they do not get any state funding.

The SIA are the Security Industry Authority, created by the Govt. to 'regulate' the security industry. In reality all security personnel now have to pay to go on a silly course which is supposed to bring everyone up to an industry 'standard'. In the first year of operation, lots of the people who qualified were later found to be illegal immigrants, which says a lot about the vetting procedures involved.
The cynical may think it's yet another way of making money...
