Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Took the up and coming pup for a walk this eve about 8 ish before it went dark and the bats were out in force catching the midges and stuff.
Then when it got slightly more dark either and owl or some small ish bird of brey (looked brown) was screaking its head off in the woods.
And I saw a fox last night cycling home from le supermarket de la sainsburys.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Also as we were watching the pelicans on the lake by Horse Guards Parade ground one of them caught a fair sized fish - must have been 8 - 9 inches and another came up and nicked it as it was manoeuvring it down its beak.

Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
I have the most forlorn looking dove ever sat under my tree in the wet grass. Yesterday it was nested down in my ground feeder. It's lost it's mate; probably to my new neighbours cat. Will it die? It's making me really sad.
Edit:
Hurrah I saw the pair of doves looking as happy and healthy as ever....so...I think I have a baby dove not a folorn lovesick one. It's all fluffy!
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Found a heron with a very badly damaged wing today, tried to catch it and throw my jacket over it but it was having none of it and nearly got speared so went to the vet who gave me the number of RSPCA wildlife rescue who came out and put it to sleep so a bit of a sad day.
