Check it out. :)
A regular 6.5 mile route yesterday, made more interesting by a short blizzard. 20 minutes cold sunshine, 15 minutes blizzard, 15 minutes snow.
Looking forward to finishing work at 1 tomorrow. Drive up to Rosedale Abbey & a 9 miler in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors to Dale Head & back. Has anybody run this route ? The view down the valley, on a clear day, is unbeatable. I'll be then fully prepped for the Castleton Beacon race on Sunday.
Well thanks to the servers being down at work I was able to make up for sleeping in this morning and missing my planned run and got across to Pendle at lunchtime.
A rough following of the 2nd half of FTOP. Lovely crisp day, clear blue sky, cracking views from the top. Struggled all the way though. Thought it'd be fun to go with an unnecessary load in my rucksack, and got there and realised I hadn't eaten and only had 2 cereal bars on me. Still, all miles and feet of cimb under my belt. Threw in a last climb up through Fell Wood too, just to finish those legs off!!
10.7mi, 3,122ft, & *whispers in embarrassed fashion* 2h38m:o

Makes you glad to be alive!!
(P.S. Also had the weird, almost hallucinatory experience of 'growing' during the run whenever I took my shades off. I felt another 2ft off the ground!:confused:)
Well there was a 40 minute class, 60 minute and a 75 minute class i think?
You have exactly that time to visit various point indicated on the map. These may be a lamp-post, telegraph-pole, sign, date/plaque etc.
Each is worth different points from just 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. You spend the 75 minutes running round with your map trying to back as many as possible.
I think you get a point taken off your score for every 2 seconds you are late.
There is a series....next one is st annes, then penwortham i do believe.
Hope you kept away from the less salubrious areas of Lancaster mate, i wasnt too happy running on my own in the pitch black on the footpath around Marsh estate. I reckon i got 810 points, i think the winner got 1270. One of the 50 point controls was outside our house.
Ha, i stayed at the bottom of the map...so the only dodgy bit was running along the canal - but that was quite enjoyable.
I think i got something around 580 points, could have bagged probably 200 more if i didnt get lost and totally lose my bearing on where the hell i was.
Never been to lancaster before so had no 'LK'...damn:rolleyes:
Some d*ck did laugh at me for having a headtorch on though, but i suppose he's got a point.
