Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
I got called out today to look at a swarm of honey bees livin' "wild" in a field ditch above the little village of Cononley near Skipton. Must admit I was a bit sceptical 'bout what I'd find. Well what a sight it was!

Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Just lately i have seen lots of Quayle running around, lots of Roadrunners, Rattlesnakes, many types of lizard, some very big Eagles. And yesterdays highlight was a couple of Coyote crossing the road in front of us. Still looking for Scorpions!
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Can anyone see my photo of the bees on the last but one post? I can't...maybe it's my computer?

Three buzzard, one kingfisher and one heron spotted by the river on Monday night's run :)
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
6 hares, while running up the Dane Valley Way on Turn Edge. All within about 300 metres of each other.
No coyotes. It's wilder than I thought out there on the Isle of Man

I can see it too. It looks like you were stood about 2 feet away from them. How zoomed in were you? and were they aggressive at all?
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
I can see it now!
I was about 10' away from the "hive". Zoomed-in; 300mm lense. Not aggressive one bit..even when the beekeeper sawed-off the branch they were attached to. I think they were desperate for some human help. They wouldn't have survived the winter. Hopefully the beekeeper will gain a few jars of honey from the swarm next summer. He's promised me a jar. Nice one!

Prairie dogs today. And a very big bird, could have been an Eagle. Not too sure, doing about 40mph on the bike at the time.
