Same here. Except my second wind didn't make an appearance until Stonehouse. I can remember clear as anything getting to the top of Gragareth (13 miles in), setting off along the ridge and thinking "shit... this is going to be a deeply unpleasant 49 miles". Turns out it was a deeply unpleasant 15 miles or so, but the second half was much better. Enjoyable even! The worst part of the whole day was discovering on arriving at the finish around 3.30am that the cooked breakfasts wouldn't start being served until 7am. I was unconsolable.
any one know when the road books are sent out... seriously need to get some recce's done.. are the checkpoint grids earlier in the post still the same?? and the list of bearings??

Due to a variety of issues the Handbook has been somewhat delayed this year. It is now ready to collect from the printers and should be in the post within the next 7 days.
