Amex, I know this is a bit anally retentive, but I am planning my winter holiday and cyclocross race season at the moment, so will we have our XOTF weekend 21/22/23 December or 14/15/16?
I'd hate to be away on holiday while it is on, while if I knew now, I could plan to be back on time or leave afterwards... :D
Hi Hann sorry i have been away for a while, Mrs Amex had been diagnosed with a serious illness and for the last 6 months it has taken over our lives, all being well we are on the up now?
Talk about shit year
OK i will make an effort to sort this out this week sorry again but i have been busy xx
This Years extravaganza will be held as always in Keswick on the weekend of 21-22 Of December.
A walk or Bike ride will be held on the Friday, run will be on the Sat, Lakeland Spice, then Loft all welcome.
The route will be as always a little off the beaten track somewhere you would not normally go but will be one of my best yet.
This thread is now open again. I for one can't wait for the end of this year!
I will be there this year but more importantly, I'm so pleased to hear that Mrs A is on the mend
I haven't seen Emmi for a while, so until she turns up, I shall start the list then :)

This "Xmas on the fells" business. Cant help but think its just a big booze fest with the weak pretense of a training weekend
Having reviewed last years posts, it would appear to be "just a big booze fest"
As such interest has been raised

I will be mostly walking. Running and MTBing is too hard :D
Oh and drinking. I can do that bit.
Walking the route this weekend, starting from Maggies Bridge Darling (clue) aiming for 8-10 miles 2000-2500 foot very rarely visited area of the lakes, but stunningly beautiful in winter
Your routes have alwasy been splendid, I am looking forward to this years :)
Thanks Hann first pint of Sneck's on me!
Table top route as follows:
OS4 Start Maggies Bridge NY134-210
Then NY138-211
Up road for a short while aim for 124-224 base of Darling Fell up to Darling Fell at 128-225
then over to Low Fell South Top 135-222 then Low Fell North Top at 137-226 from here it's a bit sketchey my time walking the route will be well spent here from my memory we hit a wall at some point and aim for Fellbarrow at 132-242 the highest point of the route.
from here its down to Wiikes How 121-238 find our way to youth hostel then to Hudson Place Farm follow lake via Watergate farm back to Maggies Bridge.
after last years very cold outing i have tried to lower the height to a max of 416m not high but if its cold it's high enough.
i have another route sorted should the weather be good an that route will be to a max of 552 m we will see nearer the date
Looks an interesting route. Much further West and they'd be talking like Fellmonster :closed:
Will check dates this week. Hope to make it this year.
Amex, did you know there is a photo of you in last seasons Trail running mag?! Good to see you oot n aboot mate xxx
I did not know Lou any Link??? So i may look at my slender frame and good looks.
Andy i have another fine fine route a little closer but a few were concerned about the ice/snow last year which was bad! it starts from near Whinlatter over well i will recce them both and all decide near the day xx
Thanks for the imput recceing etc Amex. I see there are a couple of Wainwrights to be bagged out there
