true enough - he and the others in the group obviously paced it precisely to take as long as poss without danger of missing the cut-off. Was just making the point that Sagan had been involved in some pacing of Nibali in the early climbs before he dropped back to that group.

One issue: Radios. God, does anyone (except the team management and the TdF management) think they are a good idea!!? It really stifles spontaneity, rider intitiative, ad hoc alliances and the natural tactical evolution of a stage.
I know the UCI don't want them, we can only pray to god the Tour people listen.
Thought it was hilarious when BW admitted that Froome's burst up the final climb was because 'they couldn't hear David on the radios'.

Todays race was poor to watch.

Well I watched 4 days from the Costa Brava where I had German or Spanish Eurosport and then 4 days from Gary and Debbie Devine's place in the Pyrenees on ITV4 highlights in the main.
I have to say it loses a lot of it's appeal when the commentary is in a foreign language and so I'd quite happily accept a few slips and blips along the way. Murray Walker and Coleman were famous for them and it added to the fun and their legendary status.

I've enjoyed what I've seen of the tour - how long have we waited for something like this - a GB one-two and stage wins for 4 Brits?

I find David Harmon on Eurosport is generaly OK but a bit too much of a Cadel-ophile for my liking. However, Sean Kelly can give give Liggett and Sherwin a run for their money with some of the rubbish he comes out with. I'm sure a lot of the time he'd just filling while Harmon goes to get the coffee and also has a tendency to descend into some kind of Irish Franglais which only really makes sense if you're an ex-pro from Waterford!

and all 4 are in the the 5 man Olympic road race team - that bodes well for London.
I remember Robert Millar's king of the mountains win and 4th overall (yes I'm that old!) and thinking this is as good as it gets. Have to pinch myself each day Wiggo is in yellow but won't start believing a win could finally happen til after the final TT.

I could forgive the slips if their commentary was generally insightful and enlightening and not full of irritating irrelevances. But it's not.
If you are just going to 'say what you see' then at least get it right.
Between foreign commentary and them, well, it's a close thing for me.

Just saw Millar's very ballsy finish. I'm a big fan of his, and he really deserved that.
