Does anyone have the results to the Shelf moor race when it was a champs race(not the last time, but the time before?)
I seem to remember there being some good times that year, which were within reasonable distance of Colin Donnellys record, pointing towards good going underfoot and pretty perfect conditions...as it was last time the race hosted a champs race, as I remember...)
Good to see there will be a champs race held there next year, hopefully seeing some fast runs over the course once again.
Here they are http://www.race-results.co.uk/results/2004/shelf.htm
Still a long ways short of Colin Donnelly's record though
Thanks AJjohns, but it was the results even before those...I think Gavin Bland won it, maybe in the late nineties? I wasn't fell running at the time, but seem to remember from glancing at the results that were on show when I last ran the race, that the leading times were not too far from the record.
I have a couple of results sheet in the legacy box I received. In 1994 it was a British Championship race and Mark Kinch won in 40:32. Then in 1997 Gavin Bland won in 40:40. I am not sure if it was a championship that year, but gathering by the field size of 239, I would say yes. I guess both times getting fairly close to the record.
It was an English championship counter in 1997 and both English and British in 1994.
Your right Stato. I misread your post - I see it now.
Mark Kinch was some runner. I knew Mark from working with him in the last few years and went on occassional lunctime easy runs - for him!!. He runs for Stoke AC cross country last I heard and his son is shaping up to be a pretty good runner too.
