15 miles over the downs; crisp westerly blowing and a lot drier than recently...felt very good.
Cheers - Raymond

15 miles marathon training run, mix of road and trail. Went well, although furthest I've been since just before xmas. Feeling hopeful..........
Yesterday: Upto Darwen tower, round to Roddlesworth woods, 5 or 6 miles.
Today: Last part of winter hill fell race from CP6, very windy and cold .... was great! :D
This Afternoons training: Hot chocolate on sofa, hot bath, indian takeaway, few glasses of wine .... perfect! :D
6 very slow miles through Alkrington woods on weary and fatigued legs after yesterdays cross country. :o
Well so much for my 15 miles on the road!
Woke and heard the wind howling round the building and trees doing limbo competitions and rain coming sideways!
Thought if I'm going to go out and get cold and wet might as well have some fun so went up into fells for the first time in ages!
1:15 around 8 miles I think. Thru eagley valley and up onto cheetham close if you live in bolton!
Lots of fun and thou I was descending slowly the groin was fine!!:D
Lakes Triathlon training camp
Saturday 8am. Meet at Keswick. 23 of us set off round Latrigg then onto Skiddaw. Very windy on top but conditions generally very good. After backtracking a little from the summit we dropped down to Skiddaw House via Sale How. Because there had been so much waiting for the slower members of the group I elected to take the high route along the valley back to the Blencathra Centre, while the rest of the group took the lower path and ran back to Keswick along the old railway route. This allowed me to get a decent pace unitnerrupted bit of running. I also ran over the top of Lattrigg before a steep descent back to Keswick where the rest of the group were also just getting back. Total time of 3hrs 20mins but i suspect only about 2hrs 50 was actually spent moving.
Back to basecamp at Dunmail Raise for a bit of a feed after which I decided I had time to go out on my bike. Beautiful ride on my own via Grasmere, Red Bank, Great Langdale, Little Langdale, Elterwater, Grasmere and finish with a headwind climb back up Dunmail!!
We then had a sports psychology talk before heading off to the pool at Troutbeck for swim training. (my chance to have a wee kip as i dont do swimming). Then a private party at a restaurant all to ourselves in Ambleside. Despite being shattered, that night sleep was interrupted by the very cold conditions in the lodge and a raging wind outside.
Sunday 830 am - Set off North to Keswick, left turn down the Borrowdale Valley over Honister Pass. By the top we had made up the 40 min headstart we had given the slower riders. Descent to Buttermere was very scary, its a dangerous descent at the best of times and today the wind made it difficult to control your bike. Newland Pass was crested almost unnoticed, such was the strength of the tailwind. Whinlatter Pass next. Cafe at the top was shut!! After descending the other side to Lorton to look for some missing riders we then climbed Whinlatter again before dropping into Keswick for a brief cafe stop. The final few miles back to Dunmail saw us ride around the back of Thirlmere which is flatter but a bit longer. Disapointing to find this ride was only 60 odd miles, as it took a long long time to complete but we did wait a lot for others.
After a few hours lying on the sofa i now feel ready to tackle the mountain of dirty kit that's sitting in the hallway.
16 miles today. mainly off road. very tired now.
5 aside for 1hr.
2 hours easy running around Stoodley Pike, legs felt heavy after Northerns but good to give them a stretch.
Achill tendon operation last Thursday.
No walking for 2 weeks and no running for another 4.
I never know what its called.
The little valley and river that run thru bromley cross/ eagley and thru to the cinema at the 'Valley'
I went up past Dunscar golf club and along past the bog roll factory, crossed the stream and went up toward the pine trees, past the reservoir and out onto blackburn road, up the road for 50m's and then back on the fields to go to cheetham close.....
Where do you live then Baz?

I'll sometimes run past the golf club as well. You are running through the same valley as i am,i will cut through the vally and come out where Birtenshaw Hall is,opposite Chapeltown road and then up Shady lane to the Jumbles ressy.
Agood gradual climb can be done from here up onto Turton Moor before desending onto Cox Green road-i'll do this quite often if i havent got the time to get up Winter Hill.

Nah sorry, I usually go down the arena to do the track session on a tuesday night, thou am tempted by Hopeys wednesday night fell run starting at Horwich!
I've just moved to that part of Bolton and looking on the map this morning I think there are quite a few new places to explore on this side. :D :D

6 miles very slowly. Legs wrecked following Northern XC and White Holme Circular.
At least the wind's dropped.
:o yeh my run was fairly slow this morning (slow even for me and i am ALWAYS slow!) but not because of wrecked legs... because of wrecked feet from wearing silly boots on saturday night
Just 5 steady miles today with some good climbs though - had a weekend off so good to get out there although the very heavy clagg made any potential wandering off a no go!! Stuck to all the very well worn trods and clear paths:D
Didn't see a soul was bliss!!;)
6 miles off road.Bit harder than usual, probably due to the Kronenberg i had last night.:D
Lovely sunny day so decided to do my 6 mile riverbank route for the first time (after work) this year. By half way round legs were complaining in a BIG way and it got too dim to run properly without risk of tripping over stuff.
Nice to get a bit muddy though.
5 aside for 1hr getting to old for footy.
Tarmac slapping around the streets of Darwen. Managed 10.5 miles and 1500ft of climb.
Felt pretty good, feeling a little better about winter hill now.
54 lengths of 33 yard pool (1 mile) at Rochdale baths.
1/2 mile free-style, 1/2 mile breaststroke alternating each length. The poll was dead and made for a great swim:)
