Yep, 'bout time you get signed on Ady!
Shhhhhh!
Or of course Wharfedale :)
Post my entry tomorrow, just hope i get in.
Missed out last year
Wharfedale did spring to mind but, living in Settle, I always have this feeling that it would be too far to travel to train with them. K & C is probably too far too mind, given that I work in Leeds most days and leave for work just after 6 am. When I ran with Skipton this meant that I worked late and then met to run before finally going home. I'm always too knackered nowadays to work up the enthusiasm to do that and the dark evenings do nothing to help.
Running with Settle last summer was great (prior to getting injured) but, because their membership is so spread out, they range their weekly runs all over the place including the odd run in Cumbria! Tricky to get back in time for then. I hope to start running with them again though, probably once it gets alot lighter.
To be honest insisting on club membership to enter a race is bollocks..... when looked on from my perspective anyway. I run at least 30 miles each week (soon to be a lot more), 80% of which is in the fells - why should being a member of a running club be a requirement to join in a fell race?
Whats this UK athletics business and is it the same animal as English athletics? I wasn't sure so I just sent my entry off with the full fee rather than risk missing out but I noticed UK athletics and Scottish athletics members got a £2.00 discount. I dug out that little plastic card from where its rested doing nothing since it came through my letterbox (wondered if I would ever actually use it for anything) and it said 'English Athletics' so I presume thats different but is it actually part of UK athletics? (and could I have saved a couple of quid on the entry, assuming it arrives in time?) - I dont remember this issue from previous years entries.
Hmmm - I'd have thought the England Athletics card/number is the one they are after. It's the one I'd have put anyway... it's a bit of all singing and dancing plastic this year so has to account for something
STANNERS - why did you miss out last year?? Late filling the form, not enough cat A races or just unlucky
well its in the post now, probably done something wrong on the form but too late now. good luck everyone!
I have done Ben Nevis twice now and never been in a club. Putting 'FRA' on the form has always worked in the past.Quote:

Mine has gone in
As usual im organised;)
Next year for me! ( if i do three peaks and Borrowdale this year)
It was a tough decision, either The Ben or the Peris Horseshoe (on the same day) - Peris won in the end.
I have great memories of many drunken weekends in Fort Willliam!! Climbing up flagpoles, gatecrashing mountain rescue bbq's etc etc. And of course the ale at the Grog and Gruel is superb.
I did the half Peris last year and looking forward (I think) to the full race.
As well as Peris Ben Nevis also clashes with weekend of Helvellyn Triathlon and Grisedale Horseshoe - a surfeit of choices! (but only one Ben race)
It's a pity that Grisedale Horseshoe always clashes with Ben Nevis Race, otherwise it would definitely be on my to do list.
Likewise Langdale Horseshoe and Pentland Skyline always seem to be the same weekend, so I've never done Langdale Horseshoe either.
I'd quite like to alternate the Ben and Grisedale but unfortunately I cant afford to miss any Bens if I'm going to get a plaque before I'm 65. (Still quite a long way to go though and assuming I keep managing to get in). I did Grisedale a few times before I started going up for the Ben regularly, Grisedale is a really great race right up to the moment of the final climb!
I know it's early days but does anybody know when you find out if your in or not? Entered earlier this week and I'm a Ben virgin!
keep checking here I guess :(

A list is posted on the race website pretty soon, listed in club order. Fairly sure we found out by Feb last time as I remember phoning for accomodation very early.
I notice it says the 2009 list is fully subscibed and that there are substantial numbers on the waiting list
hope you've all got everything crossed
