Your first woman is always interesting, I can certainly remember mine:eek:

I'm my favourite.
Won't be any where near the front but that doesn't stop me liking me.:D
The race record of 2hr45 looks extremely safe.
I'm not optimistic that I'll be able to run. Been back to A&E this morning (after my fall on the Roaches), and told I'll not be running for 4-6 weeks.:( I'll probably make up my mind next week, but if I can't run, I'll be very willing to help with marshalling or with transport or both. If I'm not able to suffer in the race, at least that way I'll have a chance of seeing everyone else suffer:D
Incidently the avatar doesn't do justice to the bandage I've now got on my right leg from groin to toes! I'm beginning to look like a mummy.:D
Thanks guys. I don't even know when I'll be able to get on a bike, but at least I was able to drive today.
GPS and this race? What's the score...will the organiser jump on them if used?
Definitely NOT in the spirit of the event and, personally, I don't think will help for a speedy crossing.
My view is, carry them for safety use if you get into bother but if you use one to navigate with you are asking for bother.
Came across a team on the Watershed between Wain and Hern Stones looking at a blank screen, batteries had died.
I've had the same with my compass many times, "batteries" went funny and pointed me in the wrong direction, how else would I have got to Greenfield Reservoir on Tankys Trog?????
That was when we used to go over Laddow (a bit less of an error, but only just):o
Joined PFR headless chicken society after that. :D
you know me PB....Due south... I have enough with the old compass! :D
Thought you had sussed your route BB?
I was out on Bleaklow yesterday but still uncertain of route. Am I right in thinking Torside Clough then path over Shelf Moss to Hern Stones PW to Hern Clough towards Grain in the water then south to the rain guage path. Or just leg it all the way along the PW to Alport Low & then drop down to the rain gauge path.
Is anyone reccing this section soon.
Thanks
Graham
Sorted;).
I think...
Not running but will be somewhere along the route after Crowden and the res. Jelly Babies anyone? Any other requests will be considered.:)
Any body out today would have had a great opp' to admire the route and views...I was atop Golden Clough for sunset..terrific !
Snake to Torside and back was between 10.30 and 12.30, then Snake to Kinder and back between 12.30 and 1.30 roughly. Loads of studmarks over Kinder, so you must have been there before me. Someone had dropped a bottle of 'Sheffield Hallam Uni' water on the track up to Gateside Clough. Can't understand why anyone was carrying water onto Kinder this weekend! (I picked up the bottle, of course!)
89:rolleyes: results
Interestingly our webmaster has plotted some of the routes taken and they can viewed, check them out.

Route info
After crossing Black hill (Soldiers Lump) you must follow the Pennine Way approximately 150m to where the paving slabs finish by a small obvious cairn. From there you can take any route. This has been asked for by the Landowners to protect a newly seeded area which we would have had to cross. Rollick stones is still out of bounds.
Checkpoint details:- Cut Off Emergency Services called

I have had a request for the results from 1990, can anyone help?
Thanks
Graham
Some time ago I did meet a chap called Don Booth who ran in the early Tanky races all those years ago when it was just a small number of "like minded individuals". (BTW Don organised the Jura race for several years and you can see him giving a wee talk about this on YouTube).
Out of interest, any idea where I might be able to see some of the earliest results? Or would I have to ask Brian directly?
Hi Merry, I was talking to Andy earlier and he said we there was just a handfull left so get it in.
If any one knows of runners who now can't make it for what ever reason can they let us know then we can have some more places available.
Meeting Andy and Brent tonight at he pub for a race team meeting. If anything comes up we'll post it later.
Ian
