Daz has made the descion to call it a day .went down into langdale and is enroute back to Keswick I'm sure he give morr details in due course but it's a grim day day up there and a valiant effort in them conditions well done daz

Claire's tracker is still showing her as moving...last check in at Wasdale was 10:50, down 1hr25 on the published eta.
That's really tough Daz!! I'm sure you've got it in you mate! IF I can get fit enough maybe I'll get a chance to support a wee bit next time. Later in the summer!?
I'll say this quietly in case I'm committing a sin.. but if anyone wants a tracker for a BG - PM me. Happy to loan for free.. it is truly the best test of this technology as well as runner.

Personal musings as a closet geek. Lot more buffered data on Claire's tracker than on Andy BG's last weekend - its the same unit. Guess weather has an influence on mobile signal, also maybe how the units are carried.
It was pretty grim up there. Daz did well to keep going as long as he did, I think I'd have baled out at Dunamil . The clag set in as soon as we got to the top of Steel Fell and it never lifted. Rain was steady, not torrential but enough to make it pretty unpleasant. We took the decision to call it a day half way up Sergeant Mann. Definitely the right decision as all 4 of us were starting to get pretty cold. After that it was a slow trek over to Harrison Stickle and down to Langdale where we shivered in the New Dungeon Ghyll until Manhar came and rescued us. Thanks Manhar.Quote:

Weather foul when I woke up in Keswick. One for Ducks wearing snorkels and in possession of an arc. Claire went straight through Wasdale just inside the DP schedule's 'absolute last time to even stand a chance of getting in under 24' time. Getting in under 24 willl require a superhuman effort, but no doubt she'll complete even if missing the 24.
you can't control the weather! time for some sleep before heading out to place orienteering controls!

Cheers for that ba-ba! It'd be great to see Claire finish in the conditions as per last week and APD! There should be a separate club for extreme weather completions!

Owen packed at Dunmail. We went out with him on Easter Monday and he was very strong. Him bailing is a good measure of how rough it must be and how well Claire is doing keeping onQuote:

DT, thanks for the update on Owen. Wish it had been better news but once again full respect. When will this sh*t weather end?
Cyclops - tracker updated live data a few minutes ago. There was some buffered data (no signal between Pillar and Kirk Fell), I also know when she drops down to Honister about half way down we will loose signal for a while. Not quite sure why the line is not being drawn, have asked Rob the web guy behind the website. I can see it on my admin page judging by the spacing between updates that she is moving along steadily (slowing up Great Gable - but who wouldn't). No Worries JT
I was supporting Daz on leg 3 and it was pretty horrible conditions up there cold wet and poor visibility. Great effort by Claire in these conditions, in decent weather she'd of smashed it! Got back to the campsite and the little stream was a raging torrent - was literally minutes away from my tent being washed away!!

Weather has stopped many a BG attempt, lots by runners faster than either you or I. If at first you don't succeed & the reason is nothing to do with your own mental or physical fitness you've got to give it another go haven't you? I was lucky with the weather on my BG, but not with my JNLC the year before. 2nd attempt a few weeks later & it was in the bag though.

Bad luck daz but the weather again when I came of great gable around 7.30 yesterday we just knew it was going to change for the worse it did,nt do nothing but rain all day with visibility minimal on summits so if people have got round fantastic
Bad luck Daz, had a good trot over from Honister to Wasdale and back though, and me and Gem got fed and watered by the support crew, cheers lads. Crap weather. Put it down to more experience and a good training day ;)
In a few minutes the map will show that the tracker has returned to the Moot Hall.
Congratulations to Claire if she is still attached to the tracker. It has been a long and wet journey.
XRunner, I will echo that. I have more respect for the completions this weekend and last that went over time than sub 24s in ideal conditions.
