Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Recced leg three yesterday; either frozen solid and more like skating than running, or thawed out and deeply muddy. Hope it thaws out for Sunday as I'm not so good at skating; I already have the bruises to prove it.
Cheers- Raymond
p.s. top tip don't forget to take your glasses when recceing...it can make the whole process a little lengthier than needs be.

Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
There are a couple of places it's not obvious, in the section through fields after leaving the pack horse track and before joining the road to Great Rock, but you may be able to follow stud marks - unless you plan on leading at that point of course!

Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
I am gutted not to be running this year - got injured 3 weeks ago. And it's possibly our strongest team ever - hopefully not famous last words! I am still coming, to cheer the guys on :)
I had selected myself for leg 6 which would have been new for me. I seem to go well on leg 1, my favourite leg, but my "rigorous" selection process this year proved I couldn't justify selecting myself for it. It's academic now, anyway.

Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
It will be interesting to see if anyone gets the new 5 minute penalty for not wearing club kit.
-
Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Everyone ready for tomorrow's relay race?

Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Anyone want a run? My hamstrings gone a bit and would prefer not to risk it.

Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Good trot round L1 although my partner had a stinker due to a chest infection but he ran round so the team would count. 1:32 but should have been 10 less on a normal day. I believe Karl Gray was flying.

Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Anyone know the positions of the next few teams - I think the teams involved will be Horwich, Holmfirth, Wharfedale, Clayton Vets, Rossendale and Bowland but I'm not sure about the order....
-
Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Not sure myself Compo, but It was Wharfedale, Horwich, Holmfirth, then quite a gap to next three who were Clayton vets, Rossendale, Bowland, not sure of the order though.
Any news on the positions of the Ladies teams?

Bingley Ladies won...don't know anything else...took me till 6.30 to find that out!
-
Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Well done Bingley ladies! Anyone have any more results for the ladies or the mixed teams?
-
Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
I think that the next three Ladies teams were Ilkley, Calder Valley and Holmfirth but not necessarily in that order. General consensus seemed to be that we (Holmfirth, in case Compo wasn't too much of a giveaway) were probably 4th. Some good performances by the amber vests today!
-
Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Back to the mens race - who came 5th? So far we seem to have the top 4, then Calder Valley in 6th, then Wharfedale, Horwich, Holmfirth - presumably 7th, 8th and 9th. I can't think of another team that could have snuck into 5th... Any ideas??? or was it Calder Valley / Wharfedale?
-
Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Wharfedale were 5th men's team.
