2.43 for me

You must have the knack of spotting forumites. I didn't spot anyone - sorry! I'll wear a red carnation next time.
A great day though. Sunburnt shoulders, cramping legs up Cat Bells. I did a double take as Angela Mudge crossed the finish line. What a great performance knocking 4 minutes off the ladies record.
I must recce the line across Maiden Moor properly - I was all over the shop. Must have lost some time there. Loved all the descents though. Did anyone else go round the right hand side of the tarn? I was lucky to find a grassy line all the way there. Thanks to all the organisers and marshalls. I was roasting out there and they were wearing all their woolies on the tops.
Wonderful to hear the cowbell too.
2.45.01! Not bad comsidering i'd allowed myself 3.30 to finish! Even got a war wound to show I'm a 'proper' fell runner - in fact typing is even difficult:rolleyes:

Fantastic day - really lovely day, excellent food, cakes, tea!!
But I have a confession I'm REALLY REALLY SORRY, I dropped an SCS sports bottle between Highspy and Catbells - there wasn't that much left and I only realsied when I got to catbells needing a drink!!
I'M NOT A LITTER LOUT - honest -(despite what Milli said;) ) I have all my empty wrappers in my bum bag and everything:o
whoops forgot to mention him on my forum 'who I spoke to list' - mind you it's difficult to get a word in edgeways!
Yes - do we know who the mountain biking cowbell chap was?! Was lovely to hear it!:D
Lots of encouragement from all the marshalls too
MANY THANKS!
Here here to all been said. Thanks for the great race Cliff & Wynn and the whole team!
A 2.31.53 for me but moreover first meetings for me of Mud (you could've waited old'bean!) Daz (sorry I said I thought you were from Brum :o), Emmilou and ChrisK. :) Cheers t'rest of forumers I ran into (...not literally!) today too :)
So where's the next mass tresspass (...I mean forumer-party)...?
Luv Shack's place.:)
Great day, Thanks Steve & Wynne! Big Thanks, to the marshalls, it must be really frustrating have to wait for us last few runners :o
Didn't know who the majority of formites were  . Introduced to Mud, GeoffB, and saw a few others that i've met previously :)
Nice to catch up with Jamie and Catherine last night, not sure what happened to the statement of only having 2 pints of guiness Jamie :D
Could we get a quick race summary of who won what, when and where? I'll log on after breakkie tomorrow in the vain hope of finding out who won.... ta.
Angela Mudge won the ladies race in new course record...and 7th in race! Top men's result in summary on here (plus some of us Wharfedalers...! :) )

it was a really brilliant day today
a classic
met loads of forumites
thanks to wynn and steve for letting me run last minute , and also thanks to the marshalls and helpers
i tried to keep up with geoff b but just couldnt quite manage it , the weather was great and some great company , beats a road race anyday , one of the best races ive ever done .
i mean what more could you ask for and to round it off some luvley forum lady smiles at the finish, cool :)
i picked up a blue pete bland bag with green rover bottoms and a montane yellow top in it , pm if its yours i will send it on
it was at the side of the road
Swoop obviously didn't try hard enough judging by the quality of his puns when he was coming down to Skelgil Farm.:D
What a great day!!
Lovely to meet some forumites. Great route over some lovely fells. Food was very nice, cake even better and beer the best of the lot!! :)
Happy enough with my time, hadn't done a recce and didn't feel too good at first but picked up in the end to finish 2:22:00. Will be back to improve on that next year!
Oh, forgot to say special thanks to Swoop for showing me the shortcut from Dalehead tarn to High Spy ;)
Did anyone wear a garmin thingy? Interested to know what it says about distance and ascent. Put the route onto digital map and it came out near enough to the 11.25m quoted ..... but reckoned it was over 4000ft of ascent (or did I go the wrong way?:p)
a great day out yesterday and fab race, thanks dominmion for the lift by the way (and the hand with the slate) nothing like a bit of post race weight lifting for the recovery! 2:50 for me. 2 mins slower than last year - but at least shows consistency. I was all over the shop trying to find high spy - came over a little knoll to see it way off to the left in the distance and the folks I'd overtaken coming off dalehead about a 100m follwing a direct route to it - i obviously hadnt been concentrating on that part of the recce - a lot fo the other things I'd learnt on the recce did pay off though. (cheers chris and huwski)
message to the 'mountian biking bellringer' - these comments were totally unprompted!!
First 'proper' lakeland fell race, and unfortunately the pre-race predictions proved right! Really enjoyed the race as far as Dalehead summit, but from there on the descents just finished me off. Fantastic race, and good to meet up with everyone.
Still, would rather do that that than the little fun run on the telly this morning! Cheers to all for organising a really great day out.
Onto Borrowdale next....
My legs are Banjaxed,
Great race yesterday, it was a forumite frenzy
Ermm....I think someone moved the knoll - I went same route as you Daleside, as did Swoop. I'm convinced on the reccie we followed a lovely smooth undulating grass slope and appeared bang on High Spy?
Mr1470 - 11.3 Miles 4112ft Ascent on the Garmin thingy when uploaded onto Memory Map.
Great to see so many forum faces again, really made my weekend and well done to all who ran.
I dunno, show these people some good route choices and what do they do:rolleyes: ?
Well done all - I got my miles in putting out and checking the junior courses, 100 took part which looks great for the future. A little confusion/delay getting the junior results compiled (sorry), but we've learned for next year.
Well done Chris K it was a fantastic race yesterday you guys did a great job. We brought a few Dashers up and all had a great time.
It was my first every lake district fell race when I did it 3 years ago, great Stuff
Thanks Chris. All your tips paid off, especially the ascent of Robinson and the approach to Cat Bells.
Pity I took the longer route to High Spy. Mr 1470 and I were distracted by a runner wearing New Balance fell shoes. The front half of the bottom of his shoe was flapping about alarmingly. Looked as though it would come off any minute. I commented it must have been sole destroying for him.
So I thought.....more than 4000ft of ascent. Certainly felt like it at times as well!!
Well put Huwski. Great to see you again and nice to put some other names to faces. Look forward to meeting up for a few recce runs over the next few months.
Had a nice recovery run today ..... 13 miles and 5500ft! :p Was planning to take it nice and easy...until I was caught up by and then ran for 1.5 hours with a very fast runner from Mercia:eek: Was absolutely finished by the last climb.....but really interesting to talk to someone who'd done a 20 hour Bob Graham and who runs ultra ultra races.
I got cramp big time, I was in front of a bloke from Darwen and the cramp kicked it, I ha to walk the rest of the way, well p****d off!!
Great race though, well done Steve, Wynn and everyone else involved.
Great to see the rest FRA navigation guys on top of Dale Head, as well as you Chris.
What a nice day. And what nice people. And what nice beer(s) with NOUH both nights.
Pissed down continuously today with nil visibility and v windy, so I did Borrowdale-lite. Or I can't Believe It's Not Borrowdale.
This comprises Bessyboot - get lost - get cold - bail out upwards - Glaramara - The Coombe (whoops) - coffee at the Yew Tree - walk up Honister Pass - piss about on Grey Knotts - back to Honister - up Dale Head again - piss about trying to sort the alwaysinjured descent in 30m visibilty - do a Wendy - go back up again - give up - swear through the quarries - have a terse moment with the bus driver who doesn't like wet return tickets.
Full waterproofs all day, thought I'd never be warm aagin. Nice though.
cool well done mud!
Good effort Mud, are you still in Keswick or back down south?
