That's fair enough, WP, I suppose you can be a member of as many clubs as you like. Blackburn declared their hand and got away with it.
But Rule 9 of FRA Rules for Competition, says Runners may count in competition for their first claim fell-running club only.
Given that Failure to comply with the FRA Rules for Competition could invalidate an organiser's FRA Membership or Race Permit, it is therefore assumed that there is no second claim in any competitive event held under FRA Rules (i.e. any "official" fell race), a point I recall FRA secretary Alan Brentnall making on the old forum.
Granted it's the race organiser's job to enforce the rules, but weather they should have been approached with this request is another matter. They've probably got more pressing things to worry about on the day of the race.
My personal approach was not a request. As I have said earlier, I did not know Ricky was there until a few minutes before the start and I don't think he new what the protocol was.
My advise to the organisers was to declare him a N/C unless the rules permitted him to be counted.
It wasn't a "please can we get away with this" - in fact we thought we were shopping ourselves for what was just a mistake.
Anyone doing the Rivington Pike Race tomorrow?
Yes - after the oppressive heat of the Salford 10K, I'm heading for the Pike tomorrow and then will round my Three Peaks prep off at the Bunny Run Relay next week.
I'm surprised Ricky Lightfoot etc aren't following my programme :D
5k in Princes Park Liverpool at 9am then will be at Rivington in the afternoon followed by the Halton Bridge Race on Sunday morning. Had a terrific thunderstorm here for an hour or two tonight with heavy rain. It will be interesting at Rivington if the weather has been the same as our club are using it as a MT counter tomorrow - Mud bath could be in prospect across the fields and towards the pike?
Only a light downfal here last night (Wirral) just as I was taking the dog out but blue skies as I look out right now. I aws considering wearing flats for the Pike this afternoon. Do you think it'll be muddy?
I'm running after doing southport yesterday. I'm following a similar three peaks routine to Witton.
Doubt it'll be muddy. The grass will be wet and the dust will have damped down. It'll be reet.
Legs sore after Herod Farm on Wednesday and Parkrun this morning so I'll be on photo duty........
Remember to smile :)

Great run from Andi Jones today and you can see from the super pics of Mike that my mate Tom gave it as 100% as usual. I have to flag up our junior lad - 16 years old - Dominic Mahoney in 4th - phenomenal.
Well done to my Beckie for being 1st lady to the top and Laura for getting her on the descent - 2 more great junior performances - and good to see Rachel Thompson back racing again - apart from her just catching Beckie at the end ;)
You really have to go a long way to beat the atmosphere and buzz of Rivington - well done again Horwich and thanks for a great event.
Quite amazing atmosphere along the route - always amazed at the number shouting me on - suppose after 21 years with the club, a few must know me.
Don't get to race it often as often away over Easter so nice to knock 40 seconds off my time from 6 years ago.
Great to see lots of familiar faces in the race as well.
Enjoyed the race today but found the climb hard work in places. First fell race for a while so some room for improvement. Tracey took around 300 photos on the Tarmac section of the lane as we started to climb which I will upload tomorrow. Great atmosphere, organisation and support all along the way.
Good run and win by Andi today - Well done
Some good pics Mike from today.
Just started to upload the photos Tracey took while I was running. Lots more to come over the next day or so.

I am - fluo green Fell Ponies vest :)
Might do. What are the parking arrangements like?
(Is your mailbox full, Daz?)
Just be advised the Bolton are at home in a 3pm kick off, so give yourself a few extra minutes if passing the ground.
Fulham are bringing both their away supporters to the match.
Some photos and a link to the results, at the bottom, here
Thanks Ian.
Also the full results at the bottom.
Happy Days - from a Burnley fan :)

Just happened to be posting on a blog and noticed that three years ago I'd posted up some rather elderly results - from 1982 so may as well post the link on here - 1982 Pike Race Results. Good to see there a few from 31 years ago still competing. Hoping the weather will be a bit warmer by Easter Saturday but looks like Winter won't end till May at the earliest.
How are the snow drifts up on the pike? Planning on having a jog up there tonight ahead of the race. I'm assuming there's nothing so bad that the race is in danger of cancellation!?
Hows it all looking for saturday? Any rumors of it being cancelled?
Same! Haven't raced on the fells since december and chomping at the bit!!
Well I thought you had turned to track running Fleeter... that lasted a long time!!!! Obviously missing drinking Guinness. I'm sure the CVFR lads will drink a few for you this year.
There is only a little bit of snow near the gate and the rest of the course is clear. We finished off our run tonight in the dark and had no problem at all.
