Naturally I should blame Daz.........
Well I have contracted man flu. Not sure how but its def laid me up. Just reading how they have banned flat bars in the three peaks next year.
Im with Nick Craig. maybe they should ban spare bikes as well.
Now I really need to order that Cyclepassion 2011 calendar. Being the forum bikie ladies are not going to make one
Hmmm, a forum bike calendar, what a brilliant idea! Obviously, we will have to have Mr January, I electe Daz, Mr february, I suggest Toffer, Mr March, I would think Stagger fits the bill... Al can be April, Dom, you can be May... Ratfink and I will go on the cover, to mislead the masses, as it is all blokes inside LOL
Where did you read that daz by the way?
Oh and I hope you feel better soon! x
It is in this weeks Comic about the flat bars
Attachment 4194 Err this is the type of calendar I mean
Its the Black Helmet that does it. Got to be black:thumbup:
Where is her bike??? :p
I may get the comic if I manage to get out later...
did a couple of 2x20 sessions on the gym exercise bike this week - they are the definition of pain aren't they
and contracted a very sore arse from the massive seat
Snapped spoke on way to work yesterday. Wheel is a Shimano. SpoKe is a flat bladed job (290mm straight pull apparently) with red nipple. Had trouble with 2 shops unable to produce one in their shop. Advised to buy online and they would fit and true.
Q - Presume it needs to be a replacement flat bladed spoke and a 'normal' round spoke would not do ...or is that just for aesthetics?
Q - Presume the spoke would not need to be Shminao specific?
Trawling web yesterday indicated that it would not be that easy to purchase. Will give Ribble a call to see if they have a few to buy.
Appeal for help! Anyone an whizzo on shimano shifters? I've got an ultegra set on my road bike and it has develped a problem on the handlebar levers for the rear mech. essentially, the little lever 'picks up' the big brake lever when I am trying to change up which results in failed indexing. If I hold the brake lever and move the little lever, the indexing still works but of course, you can't do that as you are riding! The cable is running free so it seems like something is snagging within the handlebar unit. Any clues please?
Any tips for riding cross in snow and ice? tyre pressures? going to go to park for a little test ride. meant to be doing graves park tomorrow. eep!
You don't say what wheel the shimano one is. Repairs to wheels can be difficult to do on your own. Replacing the spoke is the actual easy bit. Truing the wheel is not. You can end up having a nightmare.
Mercian do mine and it's one reason I have campag or mavic wheels. Both made at the same factory as are fulcrum.
They have a wheel builder and machine to true them on. That's even before you have the correct tools.
I had a spoke tightened a month ago on my cosmic car bones and that was £14 and I know them well at that.
Je James may have some shimano spokes but you need to check to see if your wheel needs truing. If a spoke has gone normally the wheel will go instantly out of true.
One thing is sure , it won't be cheap
planning to brave the cold tomorrow and do a 30 mile ride round the dales on my new Trek winter bike as final preparation before next weeks xmas cracker 60mile sportive in the lakes
Roads too dodgy here.
2 hours on turbo in garage while watching No Country For Old Men on kids portable dvd player.
Not ideal  .

50 miles for me today in the freeeeeeeeeeeezin cold icy baltic winds of the North West. Hit the prom at Southport in a tail wind but as soon as I turned around to head back God the wind really hit. I couldn't move my jaw it was frozen

just did graves park cyclo cross - have to confess - i put flats on and wore my walshes - i would really struggle with this course at the best of times - it was extra exciting in the snow and ice :)
did my 30 miles round the dales today sent my missus out in the car to look for my toes
Had a crackin ride around Gisburn forest trails yesterday, lovely still sunny day, just too cold!!
My front mech managed to get jammed up with little stones that froze solid and had a comedy fall off the wooden pontoons while clipped in.
First time ive been up there, the Red route is cracking about 15 miles figure of 8 with abit of everything. Does anyone else ride around there?

Done a bit round there yes but sold the mtb last year. Just a roadie now!
Although momentum and impetus is not so easy in these sub zero temperatures
Well done stagger - glad you're back out there x
Well done everybody getting out in the cold. Interestingly I have not been allowed on my bike this weekend, something to do with ice on the road and temps of minus 6 this morning. Can't think why......:o;)
Anyway, had to be content with a bit of spin to keep me sane. Looks like the turbo will be getting a bit of attention this week.
did my 21 miles round Richmond Park on Saturday morning - my drink froze into slush puppy
I went out for an hour on the road on the crosser yesterday afternoon... My feet disappeared after about 45 minutes... everything else stayed warm in my flash winterkit... Could barely move from the number of layers mind!
Has anyone found a way to keep the feet warm? I had on: woollen socks, thin water and windproof oversocks, MTB shoes, neoprene fleecelined water and windproof overshoes and my feet still froze to death :(
something like this

but less weighty if it exists?
Anybody want to make me an offer on a TACX iMagic Fortius Virtual Reality turbo trainer before I stick it on eBay??
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-i-magic...turbo-trainer/
It's a fantastic piece of kit, but I'm never going to get any use out of it so I might as well get shot of it whilst it's still worth something. I'm guessing that that the multi-player licence will have run out - can't even remember if / how I registered that bit, but it does includes Mount Ventoux DVD.
Very cold tonight. One spin session .
Now what's this I've heard about someone coming out of a friends house this morning:o
