No map or compass rqd. Just full body cover, whistle and race card.
Out of interest, do runners typically go up the zig zags (apart from the big first one where the short route to where the burn crosses the main track is presumably taken?) and descend via 'route one' or do some go up route one too? There don't appear to be any route rules on the web site.
I'm not in this year's race but ran the route last week and now feel inspired to enter next year

No zigging or zagging. Straight up and down same route, there or there abouts.
