It wasn't Suarez best game but Liverpool dominated United. The only united players that could take any credit were Rooney and de Gea. Sturridge penalty was doubtful in replay but Vidic made it easy for the ref to give at the time. Liverpool should have had another penalty after that one which wasn't given.
Mata is a class player when surrounded by class players but that's not the situation he finds himself in at united. Mourhino got rid as Chelsea weren't the side they were and he was a luxury as he wouldn't defend. Good bit of business by Mourhino but Moyes has a white elephant on his hands unless he gets in more quality and someone to do the leg work around him.
Tactically naive by Moyes.
Good start to the double header so lets hope the next one is as entertaining :D
ROSICKY!!! What a goal!
I agree with most of that but I just dont get why you need to justify Sturridge's cheating? As though it was OK...
Vidic was at fault but sturridge cheated.. when Young dived as a United fan I criticised him.. we have this strange view that foreigners or opposition players diving is cheating, english or our own and its OK..
he simulated.. very very clear.
The FA just need to bring in retrospective analysis.. that threat alone will cut this out..
I'd drop Vidic now, we need to build for the future and allow Jones to get the experience.. that was silly regardless of sturridge's cheating, going away from goal, tight angle, wrong foot.. you'd bollock a 10 year old for making a challenge there..
I think Vidic has lost a yard of pace, he was never quick - Torres used to murder him, but now any burst of pace and he's having to lunge in.. Italian football may suit him better, but he's too slow from the premier league.
This was a huge 10 days for Moyes; Liverpool, Olympiakos and then City.. 3 bad results and I think he's gone. the players look shot. I'd want him to be given more time but its simply easier to change 1 manager than 11 players.
I don't buy that the players are that bad, they have all been very good or top class up to this season.. Rooney, Janazuj, Mata, RVP, Wellbeck, Valencia, Young, Carrick and Feliani are all proven players.. you dont suddenly get this bad overnight.
I agree Iain with the vidic tackle an him but 10 minutes later when he was clearly fouled again in the box the ref waved it away.
Swings and roundabouts.
Also that fullback should have gone for hand ball in the first half.
They are no threat to anyone now and just looked less than average.
Arsenal played badly and won. Not a great performance, but it bodes well to see the Arsenal battle through that one.
Mid March and it's still a Four horse race, massive game at the bridge next Saturday
I think its all 4, certainly 3..
But Liverpool on paper have a fairly easy run in, but the reality is they have a chunk of games against teams battling for relegation... so its silly time. United's league hopes fell apart 2 years ago with that loss at Wigan..
Away to Palace, west ham, cardiff and norwich..
I still think City are favourites but its not clear cut
It's a great season for the neutral. Moyes will be fine. He's a good manager and will be successful if the powers that be don't bottle it. Chelsea for the win
I think we all need to face up to the fact that Liverpool are going to win the league
In the grand scheme of this season it's the only logical conclusion that I can come to which is in keeping with the general theme of awfulness. I think we should all take a moment to recoil in horror at just what a huge part we've managed to play in their title charge by gifting them 6 points and putting a +4 on their already mammoth goal difference.
The funny thing is if we didn't despise them so much as rivals there's actually a lot to admire about what they've done there. They've managed to assemble a team of players who apart from Suarez aren't superstars but they've worked relentlessly on a system and built a team to excel at it. For them to beat the likes of Chelsea and Man City to a title would be a huge achievement. The speed, movement and interchanging between their players today was light-years ahead of the slow, predictable, plodding rubbish we served up.
The sheer amount of time our players were taking on the ball was staggering in comparison to Liverpool's who were all popping off first time passes and moving into space to receive it again. I lost count of the amount of times our players were caught dawdling on the ball, taking 2-3 touches to keep the move going. Then when we did actually manage to get some first time passes going, they were inaccurate, chest high and smacked of piss-poor technique; looked like something you'd see down hackney marshes.
We had a huge chance to put a dent in their title hopes today and we didn't just fail, we managed to fail whilst embodying all that is awful about football in this country in general; over-rated players on 200k a week who can't pass the ball first time with a manager who bases his style around awful percentage crap. 1 shot on target at home to our most bitter rivals is something that should not be forgotten or forgiven. They've never ever been as accommodating to us at Anfield as we were to them today, even when they had Nigel Clough and Neil Ruddock playing for them. Unforgivable.
The title is in their hands if they turn City and Chelsea over at Anfield, which given how they'll all be buzzing and believing after that today will be no huge surprise. It would be the most apt footnote to a season which will forever be used as the modern-day barometer of shite, we all thought 2011-12 would never be surpassed but Moyes has broken yet another record in double quick time, he's dragged us to depths that nobody could have forseen or thought possible.
I agree. Liverpool are the team to beat at the moment. As a Gooner to win the league would be immense, but it'll take a victory at Chelski for me to really believe we can do it. I think we can beat City home.
To be honest winning the FA Cup and coming close to the title would be pretty special after the last nine years us Gooners have suffered!
The ginger twat has to go now.
I agree with much of this but I would also plan to offload RVP. I just think the Dutch are hard work once their head has gone, and I think he's has. They fall out with each other for fun after all.
The thing that surprises me with Moyes is that there was a structure that worked and he has torn it up. I was amazed he forked out for Fellaini - he never looked like a Utd player, or a top 4 team player. He should be moved on at season end as well.
Wide players, pace, solidity, flare in attack - that was what Utd had.
Pension off Vidic and Ferdinand and get Smalling and Jones playing together to season end. Give the new left back Buttner a run and pension off Evra.
Rafael at right back.
They have the others as backup if needed.
Carrick, Fletcher, if fit and Mata.
Wide Valencia and Januzaj or Young.
Rooney up front.
With Welbeck, Hernandez, Cleverley, Nani, Giggs - if needed.
Kagawa can go for me. Powder puff.
Not a bad assessment. Butter isn't good enough though and Young doesn't belong anywhere near OT. Kagawa is a top player and gets about his business without moaning but we've got about £100m worth of talent in his position already so probably best to let him leave.
United were woeful from top to bottom today
RvP doesn't seem bothered. Rooney is like a pinball machine. Can he control a football these days?
Mata looks lost. It's like he's had all his footballing ability coached out of him
Fellaini - is useless
The defence are a shambles. Carrick looks like he's on the verge of packing it all in.
Tick Tock.
The Heathens avatar - now that's a lesson in irony for all us
:D Ha ha, it certainly is this morning!
Liverpool turned us over 4-1 in 2009 though so this is nothing new. I like to remember the following:
Manchester Utd - 20 league titles
Liverpool - 18 league titles
Looks like the FA might reject the change of name for Hull City to Hull Tigers. Who is this Assem Allam ? anyone would think he owned the club
Anyway it's a small price to pay to have "cash converters" disappear off the front of your shirt.
Plus I have a bit of previous with Hull City supporters from the days they were in the bottom division and they didn't think they should be there (they should, they were *rap!) so allow me a bit of schadenfreude on this one :D
I have just read some statistics which show that Moyes is at least improving:
After 29 games last season Everton had 48 points, had scored 46 goals and had conceded 35.
After 29 games this season United have 48 points, have scored 46 goals and conceded only 34.
Tbf they are fighting… they care so i think he still has the players backing… 2-0 was also a penalty but our keeper haskept us alive…
Is this away goals at 90 or aet?
Well done United!
That was a big performance… de gea was class… so was jones… butagree with TH giggs is still too important…
Well done David Moyes. Tick tock . . .
We're still in it… dont do mickeymouse
The swagger is back. Until city smash them all over the old toilet.
