Re: 2012 DazH XOTF a beer?
Are there any plans for Friday? I'm getting up there about lunchtime or maybe before. If not, I guess Friday evening people will be in the Dog? I'm not in the bunkhouse this time - got a B&B.

Re: 2012 DazH XOTF a beer?
Suspect we'll be in the Dog and Gun (and / or upstairs in the Old Keswickian) on the Friday night Nigel
-
Re: 2012 DazH XOTF a beer?
Nononono, not the Dog & Gun, we call that the pub somewhere near that Norwegian hat shop...

I'll see you lot in that pub by the shop with the dodgy hats on friday. I remember it as the pub with the lass serving drinks and food who is well fit.

I had assumed we were but it's a fair way out to Loweswater so it'd have to be earlier than in the past I think

Isn't showing off legs and lycra in front of shoppers stupid enough to be up and out that early a well established tradition of xotf?

Tight clothing that those not manly enough to bare legs tend to wear. I know, hard concept.

Re: 2012 DazH XOTF a beer?
Just a couple or 4 Guinness (hare of the dog) to settle the stomach.
Roll on next week.
Do we have to run?

Nah, I don't run, I haven't run in years! This year I am going to try and cycle though, which will be interesting :)

Are you cycling the run route Han.
PS
I will only be staggering, not run for a couple of weeks with a sore hamstring.
Need to be there though for my mate.

Don't worry about the sore hamstring. XOTF is a social run out at social pace

Everything is social pace at the minute.
I am now TT till next Saturday teatime.
Is it full body cover?
What shoes should I wear?
Is there a drinks station on route?
How many gels will I need?
Will map and compass be the order of the day?
-
Re: 2012 DazH XOTF a beer?
I was planning on riding the most rideable route to the top of Darling Fell, but there isn't one... so I am riding the run rout. As I will be largely pushing the bike anyway, the bits I can ride will make up for the bits I cannot :)
I just follow Amex's @rse, has worked for me so far and this is my errrr, 5th? XOTF :)

Re: 2012 DazH XOTF a beer?
I will be staggering/crawling/crying. Social pace is fast for me! But that's ok, as long as I earn my night out :w00t:
Hoping for a run this morning, but have woken up feeling extremely dodgy (not booze related, my training has been feeble in that respect!) Daren't venture far from the bathroom, hope it is not Winter lurgy  Maybe later!
-
Re: 2012 DazH XOTF a beer?
Those worried about lurgy/injuries: the last few years we have always had a few of us that walked a shorter route or even the same route... Walking isn't that much slower in the big scheme of things :) This time it will be ultra slow as I try and ride the bike for a few metres, fail dismally, get off, push, get back on, fail, get off push... So anyone worried about the pace, don't :)
My bike also has a nice hipflask he got from Saint Nicholas, to keep ther backmarkers warmed up :)
