5.5 miles today at lunchtime around the Tame Valley Park
16 miles and 3200ft from Strines road over Derwent Valley.
Long slow and hilly.
Think I spotted a Hurricane or possibly a Spitfire. WW2 RAF fighter plane certainly flying over the dams but was just too far away to make out. Possibly part of the fly past on Friday?
4m off road run to work at 5am, in daylight:cool:
5m off road over norland moor home at 2pm finishing with 5mins in river:cool:
Yesterday 8 miles on bike, low gear legs felt slow.
Today wedding anniversary so nada for training. Even missing Jack Bloor Fell race so she must be worth it.
An easy 4 in the evening sun. There's nothing more to do but feel tense and sick now. :o
Jason
just a nice steady 40 minutes around hartshead pike, lovley evening
After the bizare incident yesterday, it was nice to run off any frustration and anger around the Parbold Hill Course this lunchtime.
Lovely running conditions, even if I was sweating like a hog at the top of Parbold Hill!
Took a fell newbie round our Great Hill Handicap route 7.5 miles 1200ft climb. Felt good at finish, since the conditions were really good for run being mad decide to go around again and did it 10minutes quicker. Total of 15 miles for a evening run:)
8 miles from work to whitefield tram, picked up car there. On the bike to work for the rest of the week then Manchester 10K on Sunday, hoping to go sub 40 again. :)
5 miles around the Tame Valley Park, great running weather
4m to work on singlespeed up Ripponden bank, feeling the after effects of last nights bbq:eek: 5m home, straight out of work up through woods with bike on shoulder for 2m, 3m on roads to finish:cool:
went for a beer after work, does that count?
No but I am jealous. In this weather its hard not to go for pub nuts and the amber nectar. However I am being good pre marathon. I will allow myself one pint of Jennings on Friday and Saturday nights though. I'm only human. What is the point of going to the Lakes otherwise?
Anyway had a very easy hilly road 5 tonight in glorious sunshine, the back road was heaving with West Highland Wayers. Vermin! :D Resting now until Sunday.
Jason
Upper body weights, abs, 5 mile on the flat, 38.47.
8 miles again on the bike. Going to start running again tomorrow.
Realised yesterday that I did 120 miles in 8 days last week. Nearly twice as much as usual. Trying to gain enthusiasm for a speed session.
Training with a difference for me today. 60 minutes of football this afternoon with Tryfan and our students in the afternoon sunshine. It certainly helped my calf strain. A great afternoon.
55 miles on the bike tonight and i enjoyed it way tooooo much so i must be fairly fit , cycled all the way up to newhaven and never came out of the big ring once.
only 3 near misses with numpty drivers. One woman coming out of tescos with the mobile to her ear didnt even see me in my bright green liquigas bianchi jersey and nearly gave me a kiss she was that close:eek:
nice and sunny and not much wind
perfect cycling weather
:) 5 miles yesterday
6 miles and about 1000 ft upwards and downwards last night.
1 hour on hilly roads including 3 x ~500ft climbs, comes to something over 6 miles....:)
4m run to work up Old Ripponden Bank then off road rest of way, 5m run home over Norland Moor with the wind in my hair:rolleyes:
Another dam fine day:cool:
lunchtime run down the embankment
:o daz caught me taking a "walking break" i reckon
Just bike commuting so far this week-mostly along towpath.
Should be back running by Saturday at latest:)
6 miles around west pennines another good late afternoon run. After 2hr break a slow 8 along canals, fields and around haslam park;)
4m to work on singlespeed, 4m home, its weekend, no work till Monday night:cool:
Fairfeild Horseshoe tomorrow;)
Bit of a cheat really.... managed a "jog" up Lost Lad and then across to Dovestones and back whilst waiting for the in-laws to catch me up after the Battle of Britain fly past at Derwent. Long time since I ran in jeans and walking boots! Good walk this morning, nice to see so many out for the occasion.
Parked up in Edale and popped over to the Derwent Valley to watch the Dambusters memorial flypast. A magic experience watching the Lancaster, Hurricane, Spitfire, Dakota and a brace of Tornados make several passes up and down the valley, and very low over the Derwent Dam. The whole experience would have been even more atmospheric had I been able to hear the engines of the planes properly over the noise of the two helicopters hovering just behind me that were filming the event!
Thoughts are with all those who lost their lives during and as a consequence of the raid.
Just a steady 2 mile on the roads tonight to see how calf felt still not 100% but improving.
Just got towards 3 mile this morning and bang the calf muscle has gone so thats the running over for the next 10 days or so at least.
23 miles on bike around St John in Vale and Derwent water from Keswick as part of one of Preston harriers team taking part in the Keswick Mountain Festival Triathlon. We finished 4th team and the other harrier team was 6th out of 15 teams. If i realised we were going to be semi-competitive I would not have done 37 miles this week including 30 miles on the fells.
Weekly total 37 mies running and 22 miles on bike. Currently VCD is not triggering. So hopeful should be able to get reasonable fit in-time for the saunders;)
