Attempts 30th June-1st July
Ok, fess up, whose going?
I will be setting off at 00:00 Saturday 30th June. (i.e. friday night at midnight)
Currently have about 8 biped's helping and 5 quadrupeds assisting. More like a Bob Martin Round with lots of dogs. Though if anyone fancys a leg 1 midnight start am strangely lacking in graveyard shift helpers.
Rob

Good luck Robin: don't trip over a lead!
Re: Attempts 30th June-1st Jul
Good luck to you Mr Glove Thief from the Gloucstermassseyfergusoncomebackwithmytankardshire contingent - sadly we can't help out as our mate's getting hitched. Having seen the amount of dashing about you did the day myself and Splatcher got round I reckon you'll nail it! Don't forget your armbands for the Caldew.
Andy, Rose, Brad, Fast Eddie, Gordon, Katie and Tom (think that's all of us!)
Re: Attempts 30th June-1st Jul
I am away on holiday from this weekend otherwise I would be happy to join the party. Good luck and may the weather be on your side

AndyK - I was just in awe of your support crew, each time I came down the mountains you'd gained another female. One at Therlkeld, two by wasdale and I swore I saw three at Honister, I nearly tried to see if I could catch you on Leg 5 to see if you could keep the achievement going. I have taken such lessons on young man when setting out my own pacer arrangements.
Re: Attempts 30th June-1st Jul
mountain bag: would have loved to help if it wasn't for knee problems. I could ask around at Eden Runners if you're still short for Leg 1.
Re: Attempts 30th June-1st Jul
I'm going to make an attempt Saturday/Sunday! Definitely feel under-prepared, and with only a small team of BG novices as support it should be quite the learning experience for all of us...
I'm doing all my own navigation, which I'm enthusiastic about, but slightly nervous about how much energy it will use up, and if I'll still be able to think straight by Wasdale.

MB,
May be able to help you out. Have chatted with aforementioned friend (on previous thread) and to my surprise/regret he seems keen!
Not sure we would do all of 2 as well but aiming to do legs 1 and 2. Certainly be OK for 1 which sounds like the one you need help with. We are supposed to be at Thirlspool campsite so could drop off the ridge at any point from the Dodds on wards if we needed to.
Would work well for me as I am pacing legs 1 and 2 on an attempt on 13th July.
Only have 2 issues. Getting to Keswick for the start and the fact we need to be back in Bucks for 6.00pm which sounds like a long drive after no sleep and 9 hours running! Advantage is we wouldn't actually need to stay anywhere
I'll do some more work on logistics and let you know. Where are your supporters going to be based? Any chance any of them could get us to Keswick from Thirlspool? We'd be self sufficient after that - unless something went horribly wrong on Leg 1
Re: Attempts 30th June-1st Jul
olney - we're based at a hut not far from Thirlspot. (next to the pub right?) So getting into town for kick off should be fine.
I've currently got two 'maybes' for the second pacer slot on Leg 1. I should find out tomorrow according to whether someone's work commitments can get swapped out. I'm pretty comfortable for getting round leg 1 - no heroics; doddick end of. Its the water levels which twitch me a little. Three can go through a higher stream than two...
Careful which line you take off the Dodds some are rather interesting and rather too direct. The old Helvelyn race route went up the side, the path to the village is fine though. Long drives and no sleep aren't a good combo either.
Nick - if your abouts at a similar time say hi, my support team are likely to be quite talkative and social too. Midnight friday start and looking at 23 hour pace, especially if the wind keeps up.
Re: Attempts 30th June-1st Jul
Thanks mountain bag. We probably won't coincide if you're setting off midnight Friday.
Best of luck with your round!
