UHU Power. You can get it from the pound shop. It's, er, well, a pound...! Shoes need to be dry and clean but works as well as Seam Grip which is MUCH more expensive.
Cobblers. You spend a hundred quid on a pair of trainers and (assuming the sole hasn't fallen off already) you have to glue them back together again after a few dozen miles of running
To be fair, I paid 50 quid for them new, have put 250 miles on them, and they are still in decent shape other than this little split that I'm going to bond with Stumpy's glue recommendation!
The other option is tried & tested Shoe Goo ( been around for at least 40 years).
A (big-ish) tube is around £10 from Pete Blands, but a tube lasts me for maybe 4 or 5 full-on repairs (re-attaching soles etc).
Whatever you use needs to be flexible once it has dried. Anything that dries solid will just crack-up once you start to use the shoes.
I've got a pair of well worn MudClaw 300s. I only use them for fell races with quite a bit of road in and orienteering now as they are more like glorified Roclites with how worn away the studs are.
The sole is coming away at the toe. I am going to have a bash at using puncture repair kit glue to put them back together once they've properly dried out from their last run.
I have had good results using freesole. It's a touch more expensive than ordinary glues but I have found that it sticks well to anything and seems flexible enough for most shoe issues.
Helix - puncture repair kit glue won't work. It bonds by causing a chemical reaction with the patch and the inner tube and relies on the chemistry of both to interact and bond. The mixed fabrics on shoes won't do this.
WD - UHU power dries flexibly. It does go white and will come off eventually, especially when wet, but at a quid a tube - which lasts a fair amount of time - that's not a problem.
I eked out my last 280s for over another 150 miles of wet running from the first spilt before the holes became just too big and that used less than half a tube....
