FRA membership fee
Having just sent off my membership renewal I realised I don’t have a clue what my membership money is actually spent on except the excellent magazine and the fixtures calendar.
Does anyone know if it is used for anything else ie are there any paid staff working for the FRA, is any work done on access, environment etc
Just curious as £12 seems such a small amount

Re: FRA membership fee
Novice, I am in no way an expert on the politics and administration of the FRA. But, I have been a member for 25 years and have managed to get along to the last 3 or 4 AGM's. As far as I am aware, there are no paid full time officers. The officers and committee members are all 'amateur' volunteers, most of whom display a level of dedication, commitment and expertise that would shame a lot of paid 'professionals'. You are obviously aware of Britta's polished input to the magazine, as she builds on the efforts and successes of previous editors - over the 25 years it has been interesting to see how the FRM has evolved incrementally from editor to editor. The role of Environmental & Access Officer has been very ably
undertaken for many years by Chris Knox ( Keswick A.C.). We at Bowland were very thankful for his expertise and moral support when the 2005 Fiendsdale Race (English Championship counter) created some issues with the landowners (United Utilities). In praising the above individuals, I am in no way intending to slight the efforts of the other officers and committee members, who will no doubt be dealing just as diligently with their own respective responsibilities.
Ian.

Re: FRA membership fee
unbelievably good value. £4 for each of the mags itself is good value never mind the rest of the benefits

Re: FRA membership fee
Full accounts will be available at the AGM. Or I'm happy to share with members - send me an email or letter (details in handbook).
Main income comes from members subscriptions (£70k out of £80k).
Main expenses - magazine (about 50%), calendar, admin stuff (members database & expenses for committee meetings etc), supporting juniors.

Re: FRA membership fee
Since ive stared running and sunday willbe my first race, i thought i now should become a member of the FRA.
Does it make any difference to what time in the year i become a member. Should i hold on until the new year or does it not make too much of a difference.

I have paid my money, got a really good publication and a car sticker.
Do I have to display the sticker in my car at any or all races.
