Hi all,
Are any other forumites doing this race? Its the only road half marathon I do in the year. I find its a good race to assess my fitness at the start of each year.
Cheers

Used to do it - but too close to northern xc. but is a good course.
10-11 mile up hill, 11-12 mile down hill.
not a pb course but very popular with jo joggers. If you want to run the northers, i'd stay well away from this race though!
Yep, I'm doing it. Just got my little chippy thing, so I can see just how slowly I'm running. See you in the crowds NOUH.
Looking forward to this one again, nice start to the year ...
See you there Pudgy and Chesterblue.
Hope its not windy
No it's on a Sundy :D
I'll get me coat....:o
Enjoyed this race the year i did it but suffered for it in the northern's hence the reason i tend to avoid it now Good course though !!
Done it a 3 times, but giving it a miss this year, will wait for Wilmslow, more likely to be better weather conditions!
If you're after a fast, if boring, Half Marathon course it's worth considering the Wrexham Village Bakery Half Marathon on the 18th Feb;

I jogged round this last year, I wouldn't say it was drasticlly hilly, but not flat.
Wrexham on the otherhand - couldn't be flatter, highly recommend this if you're after a pB.
The weather was kind in between the rain on the way to and from the race. Just 24 seconds short of my best, hope I recover in time for the Northern next Sat.
Didn't see any forumites.
Well done to Mrs Hatch for a PB. And very nice cake she makes too.
I took a view not to do it, having problems with my sinuses and a swollen head that feels like its going to pop. Thats the second race in 6 months I havesaid I would do and missed out on (Pendle). Im not nailing my hat on anymore.
How did you do Pike?
who won it?
Was Oxo There?

They don't display very well. Alternative format attached.
I've just looked at these results, and i must admit, the standard in this race is piss poor. Only 45 people managed to run sub 80 mins (3%), which you would class as a recognised time, and 220 ran under 90 mins (15%), which is a 'reasonable' time. Has standards slipped that bad, or are all the decent runners resting for next week, inter regional cross country races?
So how many people, in what is a very popular race, the week before a more important race for a lot of runners, would you expect to break 80 minutes?
I expect Brendan may be looking at a 'Great Cheshire Half' soon...
DNS for me, another 15 quid down the swanny
Had a mare. Must do training.
I happen to agree with Chaddy, even if I wouldn't nominate him for diplomat of the year. I've run 1.16 on that course and came 75th. This year I was 6 minutes slower, but only slipped 15 places. The general standard of fields is slowing (and getting older)
I have to agree, the standards of road running are slipping. more joe joggers and not enough people sticking themselves on the line and willing to push themselves.
Why organise a run so close to a major cross country, no wonder the standards in this race are so poor.
thought that was what joe was for to help you train.. i didn't think you did that bad to be honest, don't worry if it doesn't after all monkey will beat you and that lazy rabbit as well as shane by the end of the year. after all he did look quite strange in his tights last night as one passer by said.. ######
