Runners from Rossendale, Radcliffe, Rochdale and Middleton as it is part of their interclub series. I'll be there.
I'm having a go.
Its my birthday the next day so bring lots of presents everyone.
There is no finish unless it is hidden behind the 3.87 mile marker.
Also one of the arrows on the top left* hand corner is perpendicular to the route.
I suggest a map and compass may be necessary to navigate this course..
(or was Brummy John drunk when he was creating this map?)
No arrow on top left hand when I look at it - do you mean top right?
But this clashes with 'The Shelf Moor Uphill' ! ! ! !
I'll have to ask for a refund for that free route drawing software!
Seriously though, the route is a little complicated so I think they will need plenty of marshalls as it will be easy to go the wrong way (not get lost though).
The end is the arrow saying 3.87 miles. It looks like an area where regular human sacrifices are performed, you can't miss it. Look for the big guy wearing wode, a bear skin, wolf mask and holding a large sword with both hands above his head.
Getting Memory Maps for my b'day. Every nerd's ultimate dream. The age of useful rather than just pretty maps is nearly upon us.
Won by Jon Brown (Salford)
Lovely testing race that one was! Does anyone know where/when the results will be available? I had to get away pretty sharpish last night.
Ginny said they would appear on the Middleton Website and they would send them to John Schofield.
John Brown's time was 25:06 and I have all the Rochdale times but not yours unfortunately Vince.
I found that a real lung buster.
Definately good hill work there:rolleyes: Did you hear what happened to our John? He lost his trainer on setting off when someone stepped on the back of it. Fortunately we found it but by then both of us were down at the start when everyone else was disappearing round the first bend in the road!
I'll watch the middleton website and wait patiently!
Did anybody from Rossendale run last night?
That photo doesn't do you justice rabbit. All the girls think your fit and really good looking.
Sorry mate wrong photo, Brad Pitt has just come up on screen.HA HA!
Just learning how to do OS maps . The 3D fly throughs are really groovy.
Hi
Hope you all enjoyed Eddie's Revenge last nite. I'm glad that you all turned up, i was worried that we'd be there all on our own :D
Vince's time was 37.26 ,placed 43 out of 57
Think i might be giving all Radcliffes results over the phone tonite
The results should be up soon but our computer man has had to go to Scotland so may be a few days yet.
Let me know what things you liked and didn't like because this is the first time we've organised the race and we'd like to know what you thought.
Hope to see you all again next year.:D
I think it all went like clockwork, nice one Trace.
Thanks its nice to know that all the hard work was appreciated. I can stop worrying now.;)
excellent course -well marshalled and flagged
the goody bag was also excellent- shame walker boy did not get one due to being the only dnf:D
Perhaps you should have shared your goody bag with Walker Boy, Sparth, or we could have had a collection of unwanted goodies from other Harriers. ;)
John Cox has kindly provided an advance copy of the results
Just a quick plug for a fell race put on by our friends at Middleton Harriers:
25th June
Wednesday
7:30 pm
Eddies Revenge
Oldham
3.8m/1060ft
FRA Cat AS
A tough shorty. Good under foot, local and quite traily.
informal summary
Entry form & Details
I'll be there, looks like my kind of race John.
With regards
Gaz:)
Just me and you the John!:)
Is this is the inter club grand prix series?
I suspect others may be there Gaz, keeping quiet for now but then trying to steal my position at bottom of the Grand Prix series for my age category.
Aiming to be there John - do us Athletes (;)) get to scoff the cakes baked for the raffle ?
I'll be there Brummy, you cant be in my age group cos I'm firmly routed at the bottom there;)
Should be a couple of Ponies there tonight. Watch them droppings :D
How did you do Pudgy and Brummy John?
Well then John, did I win a cake? if so, enjoy :D (School bus didn't arrive till 10.20 so could have stayed).
Great production from Middleton Harriers, nice race, Many thanks
With regards
Gaz
I think Brummy nearly caught me. Even Fleeter passed me, how bad's that!:D (put him in his place by elbowing him out the way, then using my vast bulk to block the narrow path)
Decent course that makes sense when you run it, even though it looks a bit odd on a map, and the cakes are good :p
Think I'm suffering with the hay fever. I was running well for a whole 5 minutes, then my chest went as tight as a gnat's chuff. All kinds of geriatrics went past me. Even John Doe managed to squeeze his zimmer frame past, on a down hill of all things! Must have fitted wheels.
Don't know what happened to Disco Smurf though, the mid way ice creams must have proved too much.
Anyway, cheers to Middleton Harriers, and well done to John Brown, a storming run
Hi all,
Thanks to everyone who turned up to support the race. Hope you all enjoyed it and sorry if anyone didn't get a goody bag at the end, not enough to go around (tried my best).
Weather wasn't too bad with a nice shower to cool you all down.
Hope to see you again next year.
John hope you didn't eat all that cake last night, and the chocs??
Tracy :D
I was hoping you would keep quiet about the cakes and chocs Lawless. You ultrarunners are hopeless at keeping secrets! One was won with my ticket and the other was won with Gaz's.
Anyway the cake wouldn't keep, so with some help form its been scoffed down (it was lovely, cream sponge with jam filled sponge mushrooms on top). I will hand over the choccies to Gaz at Stoodley Pike, Holme Moss or the 10K next week if you are at any of these Gaz?? The bottle of wine is non-negotiable and will be put to very good use, possibly at the weekend.
By the way thanks Tracey for all the hard work from you and the rest of Middleton Harriers. It went like clockwork again and deservedly there was a great turnout. Loads of prizes too.
Hopefully results out tonight and there will be loads of pics and a video on Youtube thanks again to Ian Slater. They might take a bit longer cos I'm off to Snowdonia for a few days.
