There you go
Yeah. No need to go psycho or anything.
Well said all (apart from Norman of course!!).
Here's the reason in case you hadn't seen this thread Norman...http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showthread.php?t=6161
Cant' hardly remember why we're laying into Norman Bates, but always been a bit of a sheep - YEAH Norman, you're such a tit...
Its all very well posting the calendar on the website what about the rest of us with no online access. Race organisers have to get their information back in plenty of time to get the handbook out well before Christmas a binding problem sounds to be a poor excuse, not the fault of the compilers obviously but a poor show by the printers methinks.
Plenty of room for any Wharfedale Harriers this Christmas at my place, you can have the room right next to my office so that I can kleep my eyes on you and who knows mother might invite you up for lunch.
Swoop anymore jokes like that and you will be getting the BIRD and Norman I think you are just Psycho starting this thread.
Since you don't seem to either believe or understand what has been posted I'll try to give you the relevant facts:
1. First of all you talk about the compilers, the Calendar has just one compiler, myself. For about one month I am occupied essentially full-time getting it together and for another month part-time. If I wasn't retired it would be impossible for me to do it! If you would like all the details from writing to every race organiser & advertiser etc to proofing the Calendar after it has been set up for printing I can supply them! After proofing there is little I can do other than check on progress re the printing and binding.
2.The Calendar was compiled, proofed, printed and bound to exactly the same schedule as in previous years and the same printers employed.
3.By Sat. 13th Dec the Calendar had been sent by the printers to the distributors Cambertown to be sent out as usual by mail sort. The FRA Membership Co-ordinator had supplied all the information for the mailing and the FRA treasurer was involved to ensure that the payment required for the mailing was in hand.
4.At this stage I received a few copies of the Calendar to send to advertisers with their invoices and extra copies for committee members etc. When we opened them some pages fell out because of inadequate binding. The printers were contacted immediately and they decided that all 7600 Calendars should be re-bound. This entailed stripping off the covers, printing new covers and rebinding.
5.The present situation on Christmas eve morning is that the re-binding is not quite complete. After chasing and chasing.......I am told by the printers that they hope to bring staff in on Mon. to complete the task and send the Calendars to the distributor.
6.The distributors are working next week and although we have missed our original slot they will endeavor to fit our job in amongst other contracted work.
Do you think I am happy with the situation after all my efforts and freely given time?
I'm afraid putting information on the website & forum is all Brett and I can do to help at this stage.
Margaret Chippendale
FRA Fixtures Sec.
Don't take it to heart Margaret. This is just 1 numpty.
You Brett and the Committee do an excellent job for us and we are very greatful for that.
Have a lovely Christmas and thanks again for all your hard work.:):):)
I'm sure that 99.9% of FRA members massively appreciate Margaret's hard work at putting together the FRA handbook of races, and would far rather wait a few days than receive a copy where all the pages fall out as soon as you open it.
I don't see what the big panic and rush is all about.
The Jan/Feb races are posted on the website, and very few of us to do any fell races in Jan and Feb anyhow.

Being only one or two steps away from Luddite status myself even I am confused as to how postings can be made on here with "no online access"
In the race to make yourself the most unpopular member of the fell running fraternity I must say you have made a cracking start.
Margaret rocks her work is amazing dont knock it.
Margaret
you all do a cracking job and for a measley £12 year to join the FRA. I was paying a lot more to the BCF when I was cycling in the 80's and no magazine either.
Norman needs to get real. please do not knock the FRA as this is your own organisation.
Margaret, great reply, speaking on behalf of 99.9% of the FRA Members. We really appreciate the work that you do in getting the handbook sorted.
Take no notice of the 0.1% you will always get someone who complains, such is life !!!!
Have a Great Christmas and Best wishes for the New Year.
Is this the same Norman Bates who suffered dissociative identity disorder in the movie Psycho?
Thanks Margaret, and also thanks for noticing I obviously put the wrong date on my submission to the calendar for the Gravy Pud Fell Race. What a plonker I am, but hey, as usual you sorted it out for me. Goes to show how good at this job you are. Many thanks for producing such a good calendar and all the best for Christmas and the forth-coming fell racing season.
Thanks
Think Norman has fuddled his brain with to much personal abuse. Being a junior member suggests he could be master bates :D and not yet a Mr.
Margaret, like the vast majority of FRA members, I admire the work you do and am thankful it doesn't fall onto my shoulders. PLEASE keep up the good work and ignore the TO**ERS like Master Bates.
Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.
Thanks to Margaret for doing a great job every year.
(And please thank John for letting me pull his cracker!:))
Margaret, please let me know if there's any way I can help with next year's Calendar. I'd be very willing to assist, but it sounds as if it's running like a well oiled machine, and I won't be upset if you say that it's all under control.
FRAfixtures, you do a good job for the members and I do not understand the logic of this persons grumbling.
Unless it is to provoke a response.
It would be interesting to meet him at a race.
People who whinge have never done the said job themselves.
Offer help at races from time to time, people will rarely refuse you.
Merry Christmas to one and all!;)
fthlinkin fleck, i have a to thragee fwith tha noor........
Your a Fplonker!
also as you say in your post prior to me snipping it... thought i had better put that before i get misquoted..
you mention some or the rest of us who have no online access hmmm so you have no online access.....
ffooling me!!!
and stop bullying margeret......
i suggest you should be banned for having a go at someone who is prepared to put there free time in to compile something for people who just whinge!:mad:
And nearly all races are held the same weekend / day from year to year anyway so for a rough idea of what to plan the previous year's calender usually works fine.
Not quite - I have already found out that Darwen Gala Fell Race is 1 week later and that Duddon / Ennerdale are only 1 week apart, not 2 as last year.
This is because some work on a sort of "3rd Sat in month" basis, and other work on "last Sat in month basis" etc.
I do find the calendar an excellent guide, but I do think it would be useful to get the online calendar available earlier.
As an athlete, coach, youth team track and field manager, I am trying to put my April - June Schedule together already, fitting in around Lancs T&F Champs, Northern T&F CHamps, NATYAL League fixtures, Northern 12 Stage Relays etc
and I cannot find the published date of many fell races. The dates are there, have been since October - but it seems it is a secret until the Calendar is issued.
