Aye, should be there though X/C day before but actually this one so good then should prioritise it.
Generally a very fast route and all quite runnable on ascent, second half of descent is a flyer!
Superb time by Rich Roberts last year, hopefully he'll do it again this year so we can have a progress check.
Yeah we'll do this. Looks a nice race, never been down there either. It's also a Sunday race so I can do it.
Bit surprised at how few people did this last year (for such a lovely looking race), so thought I'd better just check with the organiser (Yiannis Tridimas) before deciding to travel across from Manc...
Just got an email reply, and it's definitely ON :D
Hopefully there'll be a good turn out...
50-80 runners seems to be about normal for most races around Snowdonia, well for those not in a championship series anyway.
I was suprised when I first started racing here having raced in the Peak District with 200 plus runners even for evening races, and having heard about lakes races, but we don't seem to get the numbers.
Only 60 odd did the Foel Fras race, and the Peris race. I quite like that number of racers, enough to have an atmosphere without the congestion of the peak district races.
Don't forget the Black Mountains race on the Saturday - do them both, it makes for a great weekend and a good excuse for a few days off afterwards.
I'll be on CP2 , taking photos of the horizontal rain, maybe some runners in the mist and on the safety radio.
Race route maps usually available on our site.

We try and cover most of the races in the north of Wales.
Regards
Pete
Pete Mac - keep a look-out for me then - I'll be the one near (at?) the back, looking like I'm in need of an oxygen-tent
deffo still on for this one
if weather is good, will drag entire Slug Clan along with me (they can amuse themselves down in the valley)
if poor, will still come along to test out my full-body waterproofs (which I'm fed up of lugging around, with no excuse to use as of yet...)
:) You won't be dissappointed, boys! I've helped Yiannis flag / sweep the course over the last 2 years and as Yiannis is a Bowland member, it is a round of this year's Bowland club championship.
There's some nice photos here for anyone not familiar with that area.
I will see you all down there, hope to meet some of the Bowland lads.
:D Don't be fooled! Yes, brilliant photographs; but I have not had views like that on the two race days that I've been over that hill. Horizontal rain / sleet in '05 - like running into a hail of machine gun bullets. Wind and low cloud in '06 - you could not see the 300 yards to the summit from the end of the fence.
I saw Yiannis on Saturday at Pumlumon, he mentioned the race and I know would really appreciate support for it.
So rather than spend hours sat in your car attempting to gain access to the Lake district and run some oversubscribed race ....... why not come to Wales and support Yiannis?
No worries , I'll bring a tripod along , and we take beer as donations ! lol !

How about sheep nuts for Dolly :D
How about cakes...... the catering squad are on the case - should be a good spread
Yes the cakes were great , when we eventually got back down.
The latest race maps have been uploaded including
who is at which checkpoint
and marshal points.
Feel free to download and print them off.

It's John Postie at CP4's 60th birthday so wish him well !
Good luck on sunday .
Pete (CP2)
p.s I'll try and photograph everyone so smile and
mail me after if you want a copy : )
Hot soup, super cakes and cups of tea at this highly recommended race in the middle of nowhere (lots of funny orange and green vests though?). Well done Yiannis and team!!
Another good day on the hill .Some of teamdolly camped next to the white water centre.Which was nice. And fun to watch the activities.
Race day, yippee there were some cakes left for us after we swept up the markers.
I managed to snap all the runners at checkpoint 2 (Arenig summit).
So if you want your pic e-mailed to you let me know (your number helps).
I may upload some to www.teamdolly.co.uk but most likely later on in the week.
Well done all.
Cheers
Pete
Superb race. Really well organised, great to have that food and drink at the end. Allowed loads of time to just mill around.
Really enjoyed the route too, tougher descent that I expected.
First time down that way, so nice to see somewhere new, even if I did just look at my feet for over an hour, but supposedly the view was great.
I found out at the finish that some people thought they'd got an advantage (cheated) by not running in the cross country at Colwyn Bay yesterday - Richie and Anna who won the ladies and gents today were there yesterday so what difference does it make? Well done also to Sarah, Ben, Nigel, Arwel, Andrea plus other sundry Eryri guys and gals, Me and all the rest who did back-to-back races. By George it does you good and I'll sleep well tonight!
Missus and I dropped the 'fell running hitchhiker' off at Cross Foxes, said he thought he'd sleep well tonight as too :), fair play, a good brave effort from him - been hitching for 3 months, never done a fell race, no breakfast and he smokes
Great run out, thanks to Yiannis and all for their efforts and food.
Quality! was that you?
Heard about that, good effort by the lad. Good to see that everyone pitched in with his kit.
Looked like he had a good time too.
Craig picked him up somewhere, we dropped him off. Nice lad though - a memory for him.
As he left the car the Missus gave him a £1 coin and told him to phone his mother :o
Awesome race and organisation!!
Many thanks to Yiannis, Team Dolly and everyone else involved.
Horrifying descent - especially getting hit by a gust of wind from behind, right as I was about to start the steepest bit
Only sorry I was unable to stay for the prize-givings, as young sluglets were getting fractious :o
Will deffo do this one again - maybe even try to get my time down to sub-90 mins :D
I'd like to add my thanks to Yiannis, Wynn & co, TeamDolly etc.
A great course with a bit of everything. Make a good championship course. Or would that spoil it? :)
Cheers, Ali
