There's a short sample here.
Free camping on my "Lawn".... if you end up nearby!
Might even manage a Trespass BBQ in Happy Valley....
With Ewan McColl rapping nearby...
Shame it's Paddy's Pole on Sunday...
The Saturday night celebrations may have to be (almost) alcohol free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Better not post on here just in case my avatar shows up...........
......off and running already;) .
I wonder how much the development of fell running owes to this trespass!
I have a small collection of books and pamphlets relating to the Kinder Trespass and access to the land for all.
The growth of the Rambling Association in the 1930 and the subsequent 1949 Act to establish the Peak District as the first National Park in April 1951 can all be attributed to this act of defiance.
It is still disappointing that despite the recent CRoW act, we still do not have the right to roam.
The consolation is that, as a runner, it is very difficult for landowners to catch me when I trespass, although this situation is changing as I get slower with age!
With thanks to Ewan MacColl
The Manchester Runner
Another, not quite as good doggerel:Quote:
I'm a runner, I'm a runner from Manchester way,
I get all my pleasure the hard moorland way.
I may be a wage slave on Monday,
But I am a free man on Sunday.
(Tune: The Road To The Isles)
Quote:
For, by Kinder, and by Bleaklow and through the Goyt we'll go.
We'll run over mountain, moor and fell,
And we'll fight against the FRA laws
For every runner’s rights,
And race over Kinder Scout again.
For the mass race is the only way there is,
To gain access to mountains once again!

As you may know Geoff, KFR have unofficially named the bridge at the foot of William Clough.... Benny's Bridge... we all owe those young & old pioneers a great deal....
As a kid I went on a few Ramblers Association / Manchester Ramblers rally's in the Trough of Bowland, around Pendle and other splaces mostly untrod at the time... and although we can't roam in all such places, things are much improved!
This sounds more like the Woddy version. Doesn't Bruce Springsteen do a version too?
:)

Hillybear....nice video links as well
I'm sure that Ewan has always acknowledged his Uncle Woody....
Probably much much more than many others do....
And Woody too, new where his songs came from...
Apart from The Heart... they were borrowed too.. mostly!
Lets hope there will be songs as well as words for this years "KT"
