Where is Farmhouse Fare - it's not the small shop by the canal bridge is it?
The BGR report in fellrunner mentioned a bloke who is trying to promote old school foods as fell running fuel, growlers was one of them, think i'll stick to gels.
Just had the Farmhouse Fare chocolate pudding, fantastic!! :)
The founder/owner, Helen used to live next door to me, but she never gave us any freebies :p
Excellent pork pie today at Hellifield Station cafe perched on top of a bogmonster of peas deep enough to lose a pair of Mudclaws in
Todays pie was a home made Breakfast pie!!!!
Trialed a few weeks ago at my Father-in-laws cafe/bakery on the coast and now being sold in large quantities.
However, this one was made by my daughter for dinner.
Shortcrust pastry blind baked, Cooked Bacon and sausage(and some fried up potatoes) chopped up and placed in bottom of pie, pour over some runny scrambled eggs, top off with bake beans and sprinkling of cheese with some sliced toms....
Bake until cooked and serve with a good chutney. I won't need any tea now, I'm stuffed:)!
Had Butter Pie and Steak Pie, peas + gravy from the local bakery for dinner....ooo yeah :)
Aberdeen Angus Steak and Stilton pie from their M&S Gastropub range - OOOOOOOOOO YES :)
Can't beat a good home made pie. Steak and kidney, taylors landlord for the gravy and a bit of stilton rolled into the pastry. Doesn't get any better :D
No pies involved but I had an M&S £10 meal deal for 2 tonight to myself as I was very hungry supplemented with a large bag of Spar onion rings. Feel better now.
Sainburys basics vanilla cheesecake....bloody good!
Not a pie, but same shape.
Reading this thread has made me aware of two things:
i) I am very peckish
ii) I didn't have tea!
I like the little beef pies you get from the famous bakers shop in Keswick (name escapes me)...Mmmmmmm....gawd I is hungry...Ade you could have saved some for me! :)
I want pie :(
Oh it's only breakfast time :o
IN my defence I did leave for work at 5am this morning :o
I might make pie this weekend :D
Been in Shanghai since early Tuesday. Going out for 'Western food' this evening. Is steak and kidney pie, chips, gravy and a pint of best bitter too much to ask for?:D
Probably :)
On a family holiday years ago when I was about 12 and we were traveling down to the south of France in the car and we stopped at a roadside hotel/bar for lunch in a very small and quiet rural town. The waiter came to take the drinks orders and mi nan asked for half a Trophy :D. She couldn't understand why they didn't sell it bless her.
Went to Bavarian-style pub earlier and had a couple of half-litres of decent beer plus very good steak and chips  No pies on menu mind
Not bad not bad DT. Would've been better if they had wrapped it in pastry though I suppose. :D
Sounds interesting DT :eek::D
Home-made apple, with cream. Splendid it was too :closed:
18 months between pies??? Self discipline or what???? :w00t:
Made a WWII 'Lord Woolton' Pie using rationed ingredients today including porridge as a thickener. Thought it would taste like si** but wasn't at all bad actually.
Was Grouse rationed during the war?
We had pie and peas last night at the Kings Head in Kettlewell. Pie was from Kendalls of Pateley Bridge A splendid bit of piemanship!
..but not as nice as the Cheese Pie. I'll wager!
I had a serious bout of pie-related temper-loss the other day.
I'd run 30 mins from work to a spin class, done two hours' spin, run home, another 30 mins. Starving, as you can imagine.
Tea was going to be a pie I'd bought that day with a mountain of veg - but opening my rucksack, it'd been thrown about and squashed and was more or less uncook-able.
I went mental.
Homemade Chestnut, mushroom and ale pie
Two days on the trot so far...
We had home made pie on Christmas Eve and the other half tonight, cold with pickles. Has meat and cranberries and stuff in it, Missus likes making it and I'm fine with eating it. Beer tonight 👍.
