Paddy Buckley 21/22 May Help!
I am attempting the PBR commencing Nantmor at 6pm on friday 21st May or if bad waether I might delay until 11am next day (start Capel)and could do with some help.
Unfortunately two of my support team are now injured and its looking unlikely that they will now be able to do leg one as planned or leg 3 and 4.
Although i might be able to move some of my other support around it meand at present being short on at least one leg. I am happy to do leg one alone but would rather notand am sure I have the night time stretch covered. but after that its a question of stretching help thinly or if anyone can or would help i'd be so grateful. I have good roadside support but its the legs or even people to meet me at stratefic points thats beginning to fall apart abit now.I'd be more than happy to help ion somebody's PB or BGR on last weekend of june or early July
regards
Simon

Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
Hi Simon. Would love to help as i'm planning on giving it a go beginning of June. Only trouble is, i'm supporting Rob Woodhall on his Meirionedd round on the 4th of May, but his backup weekend if weather is nasty is for that weekend of the 21/22. If he does go on the 1st date, then i'll be there. Otherwise, no. Sorry i can't be more definate.
I'm up there again on the 17/18th April and again on the 1stMay supporting someone else. Can't get enough of the place. Reccied it all last week in that lovely weather we had:eek:!!!!!

Hi Simon just bumping this up for you.
I'm also helping Rob on the Meiri on that date and if he doesn't need it I'll be helping on a BG instead.
Good luck

Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
Hi Simon,
I'm fairly new to fell running, (ex track & road runner) but I'm helping a friend who is also doing a Paddy Buckley Round in the 1st week of June ( I'm doing a couple of legs). So at present I haven't got anything booked you weekend attempt; so I'm more than happy to give you a hand. I am starting to do reccies as of this week with my friend (who already has a BG under his belt).
I wouldnt say I'm a super fit chap but many moons ago I used to run for Eryri Harriers as I lived in Bangor for 4 years so i have a rough idea of what to expect. So anyway more than happy to help if you need it.
I've also uploaded a just for fun video diary that I've posted on youtube. I'll be adding a few more soon and will include film of our reccies. If you enter Paddy Buckley Round and click on Roachesrun, thats me moaning about everything ha.

Keep on running,

Yes! Quite a bit to do in the preseli's. I tend to go over towards the coast at Newport(Pembs) then back a slightly different way. Let me know when exactly you're down, and i might be able to meet up with you or a run.

Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
hi, do you still need some support, i'd like to do a couple of legs, 1st & 4th or 5th.
i'm planning a pbr for 4th june 7 pm llanberis start. i should of recce'd most of it by your round so hope to know where i'm going.
i'm in wales tomorrow to recce the 1st section.
my friend ant has offered to help on a previous post, he tracked the 2nd leg on his gps last week so he'd be very handy for at least leg 2. i hope to get him on 2 & 4.
speak soon jonathan.

Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
Thanks everyone for offers of support, the response has been fantastic. I now have enough support with two people per leg. Training has gone OK and Caz, I did have day out in Presellis last Sunday and covered about 20 miles starting Llangolman and heading east before cutting up to the end of the main preselli ridge (excellent running) and then running south along B4329 into Clarbeston Road where I was staying. Good but a little too much road!!
Now involved in organising all the logistics around the PBR before a final recce over the Glyders and carnedds on Saturday.

Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
Hi Simon. Sorry to have missed you. Yes the Preseli ridge is nice, but there's loads of lovely running going north towards Newport Pembs and then looping back round. When going that way there's only about 1/2 mile of road to go on if that.
Do you still need supporters? I could pop up after supporting RobW in the morning. I could be up there for Saturday afternoon/evening if you want. I'm planning my attempt on the 5th June now so if you know/have any spare supporters you might have lurking in youre pockets, then please pass them on.

Ant
Thanks so much Ant. I will for ever cherish your support and especially the vocal support seeing me through the last mile at blistering pace in blistering heat. It seemed at the quarries that it was'nt going to happen but to make up 15 mins ascending Cnicht was a bolt from the blue. A truly memorable occasion and thanks so much to you and Jon, kate and Shane for dragging me through that last leg.

Excellent stuff on a scorching day!

Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
That's seriously impressive. I was at the bottom end of Snowdonia at the time - got 17 hours into the Meirionnydd .
-
PBR 21/22 May - 3 more!
This just in from Jonathan Whitehead:
Was down in Wales helping 3 folk on Paddy Buckley Round - all 3 got round in just over 23 hrs. Jason Hubert, Olly Stephenson and Jamie Thin. 2 other starters had to drop out - injury and heat stress/illness.
Flippin eck and well done

Thanks Rob, sorry you didnt make it but it was seriously hot. I did first 12 hours in evening and through the night so didnt suffer too much until carnedds. After that it was awful. You might remeber running past me with David W on his 50 at 50 on the day I did a BG in 2008? When are you thinking of another go at the MR?

Yes I remember our previous brief encounter around Scafell. I guess you started at Nantmor? Wynn tells me MR will be 7/5/2011! If I get a decent forecast and an injury-free preparation I guess I'll give it a go... Is that your next challenge, if you've done the CRR?

Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
Well done Simon, very well done, if it had been like that on my Paddy I'd have been toast literally :D
-
Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
top effort simon. i can't say enough what an impressive effort that was. glad you made it home, i thought you might still be in a field in llanberis! good to meet you too ant and jon, excellent pacing.
...robW where you supporting the group of 5 who where going round together? if not, it seems that everyone was just waiting for a sunny day to have a crack at the pb ;)

No, Jonathan Whitehead was supporting the Scottish contingent and happened to email me afterwards.
I was being "toasted" at the southern (classier:D) end of Snowdonia at the time - Meirionnydd. It was almost as hot when I did the Paddy in 1997 though...

Re: Paddy Buckley 21/22 May He
