how many GVS contenders are there nik?
Three. Two doing a regular round and one doing a 50.
Stupid question - Whats GVS?
You have just saved me from looking stupid Al.
I was about to google it up
You have just ruined what little credibility we had there Al.:)
Im hoping to gain a bit, attempting the BG tomorrow, 1am start. Looks like the weather is going to play its part!!
Thanks. Waiting to get picked up is the worst part (i hope). Cant sleep.
Good luck, you'll be able to sleep after, av a good un.
Thanks Merrylegs. I will now vacate this thread and leave it to the GVS gang.
Into Threlkeld at 2100 .... 30 minutes up on schedule and flying. Guided down the "parachute" descent. All three together and having a great time.
Thanks Nik, appreciate the update, best of luck to them all.
All three left Dunmail at 0115 still up on schedule.
Through Wasdale, Rick and Andy going strong and still gaining time. 20-30 minutes up at Wasdale but don't be surprised if they keep gaining time. Mark has had a bit of a bad patch but went through Wasdale on schedule and is now looking good.
Honister.... Mark about 15 minutes down on schedule but could well make it up. Rik having a blinder and now 90 minutes ahead of schedule. Andy also going strong and 60 mins up.
Rik finished in 20 hours 34 minutes
Mark finding some speed and left Newlands Hause 3 minutes ahead of schedule.
Well done Rik, v impressive effort, I imagine it must have been quite damp for the last few hours! Thanks Nik.
Andy done and dusted in 21 hours 27 minutes
Well done to all.
Mark finished his 50 at 50 in 23 hours 56 minutes battling not just the 50 peaks and deteriorating weather but also Keswick Bank Holiday crowds.
Well done to all three runners and all support crew.
Brilliant! What fantastic news - congratulations!
I'm off in just a few hours to start my attempt.
I don't suppose anyone fancies doing Leg 3 with me, do they? Yiannis is not feeling well.
(not that I'm panicking or anything...!)
Fantastic effort, well done lads Im delighted for you, congratulations, maybe today GVS means Gained Vertical Success! Or even, Given Vicarious Satisfaction...
Good luck Lyndsey, I afraid I'm just not fit enough to support you (as evidenced at wed nights Helm sessions) but I hope you can relax and enjoy it, your clearly fit enough. Go well.
Thanks Duncan and Merrylegs. It seems that Yiannis is now warm, dry and fed and feeling as if he might be able to do Leg 3 tomorrow after all, so panic over. :-)
WELL DONE LADS! I can only dream of following in your shadows.
Well done Mark.
Yiannis
Great times, they seemed to have flown round, (Gone Very Speedily) would really like to read reports at some stage, esp Marks round, they must have been in great shape. Thanks for the updates Nikalas, appreciated.
Brilliant stuff - well done guys. Especially Mark with his 50 at 50 and Andy - the New Mills postie.
Just returned from a brief support stint, after over coming my current state of malaise to run from honnister to newlands with Rick.
There are a few photos uploaded at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ian_fitz/ more when I get back to my own house and upload the pics from the other camera.
huge congratulations to all three - they have enjoyed rather than endured a grand day out...
Fantastic effort, well done to all... great times and to have enjoyed rather than endured sounds belting:D
When's Leaf starting? Started? Good luck and hope the weather's kind.
Well done, you had a fantastic evening, hope the rest was equally memorable.
