After every run otherwise I get in bother. I'm going to treat myself to some of that expensive merino wool stuff. I've read that you can wear it for weeks without it ponging.
After every run Pengy - do mine on a synthetic wash usually 40 degrees no fabric conditioner - knackers your gear! :D
I'm a 30 degree man myself.
Not at all I always keep my kit scrupulously clean. On never knows when one will bump into some nice totty when out racing or training. Sometimes if I feel my kit is a bit mucky, I have even been known to take a bath mid race!!....http://gallery41920.fotopic.net/p24506620.html
Kit gets washed in next load, which in our house is within 24hrs. Despite this I've got a favourite old Helly which starts to ming as soon as I start to run :( . I've tried a boil wash, but nothing seems to cure it, luckily I train on my own :D ......or is it that noone wants to train with me :o .
Alan, it looks like someone has hung you up on an invisible washing line :D .
ive been known to wear my club top 3 or 4 times and then it smells so much no one will come near you at the front of the start line
givin at least 3 seconds advantadge:)
Pengy, wasn't it issues relating to unwashed running kit and the offensive smell that led to you being banished to Lancashire?
How come this thread has reached 12 posts and nobody has mentioned Owen?
I have a favourite top that stinks after only one run. It must be the age of the material, as others don't stink that much. There must be someone out there that has a scientific explanation. As for the smell of your shoes, try some baking soda (bi-carb) in them (sprinkle alittle post wash)
Or get the cat to piss in them as mine did for that authentic smell!
Body odour, smellier the better. If you see me rolling in your gear then you really do stink but with full canine approval.
LMH after a long weekend: ferral
Got to go, seen some sheep.........
help is at hand
try this stuff, certainly ronseal, does what it says on the tin, and kills bacteria so stops stuff smelling, was base layers at 40 deg and mine usually don't smell for a couple of weeks

I usually get 2 or 3 runs out of a given item of kit and it takes up to a couple of weeks to get through the whole lot and do a major wash. If it gets muddy or wet then it usually goes in the wash straightaway. I don't seem to generate too bad a smell and do a lot of my running alone so it's not caused any serious offence as yet.
I'm a quick wash man by the way unless theres some serious mud involved.
My feet don't get smelly either - socks are only ever worn for one run.
I'd comment on north country boys laundering habits but since he's usually behind me I can't!
Can't believe I'm wasting some dinner hour writing this....
Ie, Ha !!
my first posting of the year.
i usually get about two wears out of my kit at this time of the year, but in summer i can get a weeks worth but only if the girlfriend doesnt go into the spare room, were i keep the kit on the radiator.
if you change your kit after every run ,you`d either need a hell of a lot of kit or youd have no time to run cos youd be stuck doing the washing, especially if you run twice a day
Urgh all these people running round in grubby kit, thought it was a wind up at first. We always wash kit after every run, its dry in no time, so no excuse :)
Without fail at least once every year!
Wifes just found mine in the wash basket.....she now hates my smell! Never said that before we got married. Try to wash it straight after but can sometimes sneak extra runs if the wife don't realise!
i can manage 2 runs per wash but after that i've noticed that my tops stink of curry ..even when i havent had one for days...most peculiar. does anyone else notice this?
I get my kit washed after every one or two runs. I have a couple of brilliant "Roadmap" tops that, despite regular washing, are beginning to harbour a permanent hint of a whiff.
I have no idea about temperatures and fabric softeners as we don't use them. We have a magic basket upstairs and if you put your dirty clothes in it, they appear again clean and folded on the bed in a day or so. :)
Lol, this is a really funny thread, if not a little pongy. After a really long run i can't smell myself , but i must STINK!!!! Usually reduced to full clothes change in the cold car park .....Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr bloody nippy!
Mine hardly ever gets a wash, I only have one set of stuff, so if iis in the wash Ive got nothing to run in! Once every two weeks (13 sessions). And yes, by the time it goes in the vest is freee standing with muck and sweat.
yummy.
