Anyone doing it? Anyone looking for a partner? 31 miles, 4400 feet, early March. Can be done solo or mainly, it appears, in teams of two. I'd prefer the latter given the choice but just lost my partner (without even being careless, too.)

Me and Moth are entering it. I did it a couple of years ago. Tough, but worth the effort. :D
is this similar to the old Howarth Hobble? Did that a lot of times, mostly as training runs but raced it a few times as well.
It is one and the same - slightly different course from the old Hobble - Oh and shorter!!
Sorry Divot, can't actually be of any help, but i did want to say its a great run. I did it the first year you could enter solo. i couldn't find anyone else who thought it normal to run 30+ miles for fun. it was my third fell race ever, having only done ilkley moor and midgley moor before - both around 5 mile races! i walked the 30-mile route the week before because i had never walked/run more than 13 miles before in my life and didn't know whether i could manage!
and of course the organiser is a wonderful chap.
theNoor, you are too kind! :o
Better start doing some organising - entries are flooding in!!
more details
I once ran partnered the winner of Leeds and other marathons in the HH and he dropped out at Mankinholes. I had been pushing all the way wondering when he would start running well as he could destroy me then but that was one of the first signs he had that he was going to need heart bypass surgery within the next few months. Still finished sub 5 but did not count as were were no longer a 2 man time. In fact all 3 times I raced it I was sub 5 which I think was the limit for the Elite category. Only time I have been elite in my life. Happy days.
Great, goes past my house up Heptonstall Road so I can shout abuse and throw rotten vegetables....unless of course I am 1/2 tour of Pendle-ing it, or Windmills Whizzing it!
it is a grand day out and I'll be back for another go
Are we ready for this next saturday then
Brett - you've got loads of time yet to get your wings ready!!!
Damn straight - so do I!!
New to this race.
Fell shoes or trail shoes?
Trail, loads of tracks.
can you enter on the day? doesn't seem to say you can't anywhere I can find but had that impression
cheers P
Paulo, I would prefer everyone to pre enter. Over 300 people entered, I have had to pre order the food and T-shirts
If another 200 people enter on the day without warning  What happens to the people who have pre-entered and are slow competitors - they miss out all the way round! Well on the donuts, hot cross buns and hot dogs!!!
On the other hand, I buy all the food on Friday! Email me and let me know you are coming!!!!
Proper fell race, Mate, no management charge!
Errr.... am I missing something?
So if I email you this evening then we're still in time to enter?
What about if we want a T shirt?!
Last minute change of plan due to Saturday's forecast deluge/thaw in Scotland...
email me this evening to confirm - no problem
I have about a dozen spare shirts available on the day
I was rather hoping you'd say it was too late! I think that's my last excuse gone so we may have to enter, will email you later to confirm, providing my partner hasn't seen sense by then...
Looking forward to this. Is the route easy to follow? I noticed food has been mentioned, is there food at some of the CPs?
The route is a piece of cake, and talking about cake are you in for a treat!
Many of the checkpoints have a selection of the following
hotX buns
scones
donuts
tea
coffee
and at Stoney Lane - Hot dogs!!
I must run it one year!
Yummy! :D
Another no brainer question. I notice there are 10 CPs. Are all 10 manned? 6 & 7 say no clippers so do we just run straight through? Do we have to clip at all the others?
2, 6 and 7 are not manned, all the rest should be!
Just run through!
Its a problem getting people to marshal at the monument for 6 hours - can't for a minute think why
You have mail :)
this is a short time at checkpoint!
for 12 years we ran the yarnbury checkpoint on the fellsman, this checkpoint is open for 22 hours!
we now cover cray, this is only open for about 18 hours.
if i wasn't doing the hobble i'd be happy to be at a checkpoint.
if i get round ok i'll give a hand at HQ when i finish.
Really enjoyed this event. Turned up a bit late so got stuck behind the masses for the few miles but once we got to the reservoirs the field soon spread out a bit. Hardest parts I thought were the steep taemac downhill into Hebden Bridge and the final climb to the finish.
Well done Brett and team.
Another great day organised by K & C, well done Brett, even the weather was damn near perfect.
Managed to get a pb by 1 hour 6 mins !!! 4:52 which amazed us :D
IanDarkPeak, think it was you who was sat beside us outside, the guys you gave the lift to on the Calderdale Relay ! Hows the lump on the achilles ?
We were there :)
Great fun, in a retrospective sort of way, thanks to all involved. Our target was 8 hours, we managed under 6 and three quarters so rather pleased, given the total lack of training. Just seen the results, there are some very fit people out there!
Are the results complete? It seems unusual that everyone finished in under 10 hours...
Hi Denzil
Yep that was me. The lump seems fine although I was pretty worried at the time. I've just been for a slow 5 mile road run and it seems ok, doesn't hurt in road shoes so will try it with fell shoes later this week. Perhaps it's just those shoes I ran in which is a pity because I like them
I'll see what it's like tonight after a local 6k road race. I would usually miss this out but it's the last one of the winter series and we are all going for a meal afterwards.
See you at the Skyline
in total about 20 people who retired, through injury or tiredness. About average if it's fine!
