Swing low sweet chariot!
Ive set the machine to record the england match. I cannot get over the size of some of these rugby players. What do they eat. Im trying to think what position i could play in . Certainly wouldnt be getting involved in that big group hug thing. Id get flattened.
I feel myself drawn to comment 'seriously' on this thread.
Kick and clap is bloody rubbish and it's an injustice that it gets so much coverage compared to Rugby League which is a better game in every way.
The problem with League is that they sold out to Murdoch 15 years ago so unless you want to fork out for a sky dish and subscription you are limited to a few highlights and cup games. Rugby League World Cup is never going to take off because there are only 3 nations who play the game to any decent standard and it usually boils down to whether us or New Zealand play the Aussies in the final.
Having said that i was forced to play Union at school and have hated the game ever since
As an interesting aside (or not as the case maybe!) ....the International Rugby Board (Union) has 93 countries in their World Rankings compared with just 29 for the Rugby League International Federation (slightly more than Lacrosse;)).
Anyway.....come on England:thumbup:
The Argentinian kicking is poor today. Not the first time their long range artillary has been off target!
Its funny really but I got into rugby league through my youngest daughter (!!) playing it, having been brought up down south in die hard rugby union territory. I absolutely love watching league, whilst I find rugby union really frustrating a lot of the time - so much kicking and scrambling and fannying about in a heap and also a ridiculous amount of penalties and stoppages (and points scored from penalties). League still remains a game where scoring tries is what its all about. Anyway I'll still enjoy the RU world cup, but without getting carried away with it all.
Oh and the pre-game 'scary' dances of Tonga and New Zealand - that was just cringe enducingly embarrassing :)
And there aren't that many tries in Rugby Union to start off with.
I genuinely tried to get into the game this morning but found it really difficult. It was just so boring. Did notice though the rather rotund nature of some of the forwards on both sides.....some real porkers.
Precisely MD - union players tend to come in two distinct forms.
They are either skilled athletes with strength, speed and an unmatched will to win - these players are procured by Union clubs from their superior bretheren - Rugby League clubs.
The other types tend to be pale, doughy, fat, creatures who consider walking to a lineout or a scrum to be a physical workout.
What a change watching 2 sides from down under.
Much better than the dross I normally watch on tv.
Ha ha, it was similar to league in that they were fit, could pass and tackle.
Comment on tv was 35mins ball in play is good here.
Them lads work on 60mins.
Tackling in kick n clap is a joke , for the most part its just one fat bloke running into another from 2 yards away.
In all fairness stopping Sonny Bill (ex RL ;) ) seemed to be quite difficult
So the old farts go down the Aussie road.
What do the swing low lot think of that?
Lets face it, Union has got a hell of a lot to learn from League, a game which is superior in every way.
It looks like this years RWC will be missing one of the worlds best players, the Australian, Israel Folau. He has been sacked for his Christian beliefs. Whilst I do not agree with what he has said I do wonder whether the same action would have been taken if he followed one of the other religions.
The next Football World Cup is due to take place in Qatar in 2022. Plenty of people over there with the same views as Folau but I don’t hear much about a boycott.
I wonder why?
Rugby league will sign him👍
I felt sorry for Wales today. The SA forwards were awesome and made the difference in the end.
I'm not normally a fan of RU, but that game was enthralling.
We watched both semi-finals in a Wetherspoons in Cardiff. That was fun!!
Who's yer money on???
I think England are safe favourites. But I'm worried they'll be a bit "after the lord mayor's show" and not turn up. SA looked good but not fantastic. But as I said, I'm not really a fan and am basing this on having watched about five games in the last ten years.
My money is on England so long as they don't self implode as they have many times before. They have all the firepower to match the boks and individual skills beyond theirs (on current showing).
But as a Welsh supporter I may need a couple of early beers before I start muttering "Come on England".
Well my prediction (see above) showed what I know about RU. South Africa absolutely dominated - as against Wales their forwards were awesome.
It was interesting listening to the commentary at half time "England need to make some changes to sort out the scrums" - I thought at the time "how?".
I've called several of these games wrong, so I know beggar all, but I certainly didn't see England being dominated like that.
There weren't tries flying in all over the place but I found it an enthralling game to watch.
6 nations soon, I wonder how the teams will get themselves back up for that?
Maenwhile,
This is one of the best memes I have seen....just try not to laugh!!
