SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clough
Anyone on here running this on Saturday? It should be quite interesting underfoot after all the recent rain. I'll try and get there on time for this one after missing the 2.05pm early kick off at Rossendale in the Red Rose. We're back on a projected 2.45pm start I presume but may just camp overnight just to be sure.

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
Not running here doing manchester league at wythenshawe park instead.
I trained on the course last weekend though doing four laps of it.
The mud was a good foot and half deep in places and really heavy under foot.
Good luck.

Love it Bone, love it. Is that part of the course that runs parallel to Charlestown Road a complete boggy, swampy marsh again? :D
It's a testing parkland course is Boggart Hole Clough. I really like it to be honest. Brummie John put his GPS on it for me a couple of years ago...must see if i can find a link.:)

yes really boggy.
You can't beat a good swamp. The whole course is pretty much like that at the minute though. They'll be a few tired legs on the weekend.

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
Unfortunately I can't make it Saturday :(
-
Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
I'll be at Wythenshawe. Last year I ran at BHC twice and it was really boggy both times. This season I ran there in November and was over 2 minutes faster just because it was so much drier. God help those running in the SEL league there - good luck those of you on here doing it!
-
Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
Haven't done an SE Lancs for years but have done a few Manchester Leagues, I have to say the SE Lancs courses are generally better than those in the Manchester League.
That said I should be at Wythenshawe this weekend, i need to do something before the Northerns!

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
Sorry to let you down Vince, I'm travelling with my daughter for a few days. I'll lend my mace, net, leather chest shield and SPQR fork to Phil for the day.
I've just been for a lunchtime run in Boggart Hole Clough. It felt really cold.

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
I'll be there on saturday looking forward to it proper cross country course, rather do boggart than Wythenshawe park :D

I'll watch out for him, if he is carrying all that he won't be difficult to spot, let alone pass on the course, wading through mud!:D :D :D

Do you know if Mark Cartwright is running tomorrow Vince?
I'm getting anxious that he's going to turn up one of these Saturdays and leave me for dead. He's got a record of destroying peoples running careers has Mark. Ask him about it. :D

I think he may be there, but for reference, I am running xc about 4 minutes quicker than him, and as you wupped me last time out, no fear!

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
How did it go today in the land of the Boggart people?
I hear the footy is going quite well.

The footy is probably less muddy! Boggart was very muddy! And Danbert left me for dust!! (or mud in this case, some of which was extremely smelly!)

But Widdy well and truely turned the tables on me compared to Rossendale, he obliterated me today.
It was a boggy, swampy, marshy, mucky, dirty course....Thanks very much to everyone at Salford it was ideal preparation for the Northerns :D

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
well done today danbert you gave TDMA a good whooping- this could be the grudge match for the sunderland trip where he is an honoury 'S&H' member for the weekend.
really good proper cross country course today - i think:confused:

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
I can't see Widdy in the results ??

He was 63rd BJ, one place behind Walker Boy (who I have to say is looking vulnerable for the Northerns) and two places in front of Nige.

Sparth does TDMA know that as a voluntary member of the Strength and Honour Brigade he will be expected to get completely munted and kebbabled on the Saturday night as well as running around Sunderland town centre with his pants and undies around his ankles singing Stone Roses songs?:D

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
he does now- i think i am the resurrection is his favourite:D

Well done Sparth a solid top 10 placing overall.
Well done to Wilyvet for 2nd V60 overall
I am not so sure about anyone having a grudge against Danbert but I will be doing my damdest to catch him.
His patented twinkle toe "fairy" running style with obligatory hands tucked in sleaves was ideally suited to the treacle like mud on the course.
I will try to patent a "boggart" running style for the northerns and national xc and surprise him with my shape-shifting form
Strength and Honour and "Good Times" to all fellow runners.
Roll on the lambs longer leg tomorrow.

Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
Well done lads!
Good set of results for the Rochdale ladies teams too, winning the seniors, O35, O40, O45 and O50 categories.
-
Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
Missed you at a tough race at the Bog yesterday Brummy John. I agree, fantastic results for the ladies to win pretty much everything. Heaton Park should be a good test on the 27th. Will Heaton Park be as muddy or will I actually be able to get my legs going!?
-
Re: SE Lancs; Boggart Hole Clo
Cheers Widdy, I missed a great race with some fantastic battles by the sound of it. I'm looking forward to Heaton Park ...

Does beer, kebabs and XC constitute a triathlon in Rochdale? :)
Well done Danbert; you had a good 'un today but go easy on the carbo reloading though.

The ability to be able to carbo reload without becomming over corpulent is one of the crucial factors in why i actually run Wily Vet. :D
Looking at the results you had a decent run yourself though, 2nd in your age category behind Barrie Little (who's been a quality running machine for years) is a good effort. So well done yourself. ;)
