Fantasy Fellrunning 2012

Three weeks to the first of the national championship races, so let’s kick off this year’s Fantasy Fellrunning competition…
Anyone who wants to take part, old-hands or newcomers, all welcome !!

The rules are almost the same as previous years, except that the vets points are halved [it should make things more even at the top end].

So the rules…

You're in the Shoulder of Mutton surrounded by fellow runners and you've just remembered that you need to get together a team of four runners for the 2012 championship races. At least one of the four runners has to be a man and at least one has to be a woman.

You turn out your pockets and you've got enough cash for a few pints of Black Sheep, with which to bribe your way to a team. Some runners take several pints before they can be persuaded to join your team, others are yours for a single swift pint.


There are 3 leagues:

The "Timothy Sheep Daleside league" comprises teams from the top managers of last year:
Also Ran, Another Team, Bad Magners, BillJ, Captain Morgan, Derby Tup, Dew Class Lassalle, IanDarkPeak, Inov-8 Insider, Inspector Gadget, Marrow, Mrs Stagger, PaulJonesforEngland, Stagger, Superflyguy, Weetabix Power.
The TSD teams each have 15 pints with which to select a team.

Then there's the "Boddington-Smith league" for the next tier of managers:
Al Fowler, Biara, Compo, Dux de Lux, Feet in the Cowclaps, Fellgazelle, Flightless Bird, Fnstein, Fyurtez, Green Flash, Johnny Foreigner, Lost in the Clouds, Maggie May, Maloni, Mr Brightside, Multiterrainer, Noel, Pigtails, So Wood, Stentifrog, Tallpaul, TheHell I Will, Turbo Tom.
The BS teams each have 14 pints with which to select a team.

Finally the "Kaliber league" will comprise teams from these managers:
Ba Ba, Bo Peep, Buddy, Duff, Fell Donkey, Fellrunnerreuben, Forden Fell Runner, Morning Glory, Nudger, Samt, Socks, theNoor, Tomcee - plus anyone who joins the game this year.
The K teams will each have 13 pints with which to select a team.


From the date that you select them, your runners score points at every race in the English or British championships:
1 point just for finishing the race;
20 points for the 1st man, down to 1 point for the 20th man;
20 points for the 1st woman, down to 1 point for the 20th woman;
4 points for the 1st male vet, down to 1 point for the 4th male vet;
4 points for the 1st female vet, down to 1 point for the 4th female vet;
Points are cumulative.

In addition, your runners will score points at the Lakeland Classics and also the Midsummer Madness weekend(*).
These additional races don't score as many points as the national championships, though:
1 point just for finishing the race;
10 points for the 1st man, down to 1 point for the 10th man;
10 points for the 1st woman, down to 1 point for the 10th woman;
2 points for the 1st male vet and 1 point for the 2nd male vet;
2 points for the 1st female vet and 1 point for the 2^nd female vet;

During the year you can make 2 substitutions - either swap 2 of your runners for another pair who cost the same total number of pints, or twice swap one of your runners for another one of the same pintage.

Anyone who puts in a team late (i.e. after the first championship race) will only be allowed one substitution during the year, and will not score points for races that have already happened!



There will also be a cup-style knockout competition for all teams, as we've done in previous years.

At the end of the year there will be promotion and demotion between the leagues.

(*) Midsummer Madness: the weekend counts as a single race for FF points, with everyone's best result from the weekend in one combined list, whether they do one race, two races or all three.

Hi Pigtails. Angela is hard to price since it is so dependant on how many brit-champ/lakeland-classic races she is going to do!

I have a few team options - not sure if to go with expensive Rob (who through injury caused me to be relegated last year) or go for a couple of 5 pinters.... decisions. I would have liked to put myself in a team with Rob but at 5 pints I'm too expensive - surely after 3 years off having children I should be down on 3 pints!!
