Who's doing this on saturday ?
What shoes are you wearing ? Noticed that the kit list stipulates fell shoes suitable for the terrain. Was going to use trail shoes but presumably these won't be allowed.

aye up there SP!
i'd have thought trail shoes would be better..i couldn't wear fell shoes for that long
Ay up dave, me neither but they say you need : Fell running shoes that in the organisers opinion are fully suitable for the type of rough terrain that will be encountered.
Looking forward to this one tho. Are you having an outing over to cracken edge tomorrow ?
Just had a quick look at the route, looks like it would be fine for trail shoes.
I think Dark and White are saying that about footwear so those not used to that kind of terrain don't turn up completely unprepared with road shoes. A decent pair of trail shoes are fine for that sort of ground and distance.
I suppose you could take fell shoes just in case?
I fancied this when it was first announced, put it in my diary, started a thread on here way back in April then largely forgot about it. An ultra in the Peak - I'm very temped ;)
I'm in
Is it a bit early to start carbo-loading? :D
I only entered this morning. Much the same, I was interested at the start of year of a new event in the Peak, forgot all about it until this thread started.
I blame Safety Pin if I have a bad day :)
Haha. Thanks for your replies - mailed the organiser who said trail shoes are fine so long as grips are good. Still bringing my mudclaws in case though.
Inov-8 315s and a Keighley vest for me ;)
have a good 'un lads (and lasses)
look forward to hearing the trail vs fell shoe appropriateness debate
i'm running lowther trail race with the pooch which is in effect a fell race so i have the same dialemna ...oh to be a dog :D
Lowther looks a nice area to run in Dave. Hope it goes well.:)
Where are the details for this, and is it too late to enter? Ta.
Dark and White web-site. No, its not too late :)
I think you'll find the route details here, and as far as I know, eod are available. 9am start mind...
http://www.darkandwhite.co.uk/fell-racing.asp
Hope to see you there
Doh!:o
The email I had last night from the organisers said they still had a few places left, and online entry would be open until Friday.
Think there may be on the day entries too, but you have to contact the organisers first.
Looks a good forecast for sat :)
Wish I'd known about this before... looks a grand day out!
Have a good one all:)
Get in there LR it's a last minute job for me too - just got my pass.
Online entries are still open, they'll probably take entries on the day if you get them a ring, what's your excuse? ;)
Marked up the route on Memory Map this morning, came up with 32 miles, 6800ft ascent so near enough the quoted figures. I'm sure I'll find somewhere to add some extra unplanned miles  since I didn't seem to be capable of making it around a marked out course last night without going wrong :D
Looking forward to this now. See you tomorrow Steve - only usually see you at XOTF :D
Have a good one everybody, Mrs C is having a trot out and I'll be out and about on my bike offering encouragement and abuse in equal measures.
Also looking forward to it, though there is that oh my God why am I doing this again kind of feeling.
Surprised our paths haven't crossed elsewhere Andy, I guess I need to come a bit further north more often!
I suppose being a round of the Vasque I ought to be wearing offical club colours rather than the pony vests I've been airing lately, so I'll be in navy and red Holme Pierrepont colours for anyone who wants to hurl abuse at me on the way round :)
I'll be there tomorrow doing what has to be done, and liking it. :)
I agree with SteveS. Tracklogs says it's 32 miles as well. I plotted it last night. The route's so compact it fits on 4 sides of A4 at 1:25,000. That's a first for a 32-miler.
Hey BritNick, thought you'd be making an appearance !
Also looking forward to this, albeit with a certain amount of trepidation. Long as i don't go wrong i'll be fine. Have a good 'un everyone.
It's been tough to resist this all week, curse that safety pin fellow!! Entries closed now right, I can open my eyes again now??
Have a good one all :D
EOD available.;)
I entered on line and can't find the kit list : (
Seem to remember waterproof top, maps, compass, hat, gloves, food and drink. Is there anything else? :D
Good luck to anybody doing this one, especially kryptons;)
I had a brilliant today out in the Peak sunshine. Fantastic to see so many forumites out running, supporting or recceing. Very inspiring to run with three lady BG completers at different times. :D
Well done everyone who turned out today, it was a scorcher. The legs are officially trashed, did the Trunce Monday, Cracken Edge Wednesday and this one today. The old map reading skills also got a workout as well as my legs.
Tough day out, wasn't expecting it to be that hot
I really enjoyed the first half, spirits dropped when I went through a bad patch of cramping but stuck it out and felt better again towards the end. I was enjoying it really when I saw you at Leadmills Crumbly!
Overall I thought it was a geat event and I hope it's not just a oneoff.
The weather meant it was great for lounging around on the grass after the finish!
Good to meet a few forumites and to see you at somewhere other than XOTF Derby :)
Pity they didn't get a bit more of a work out on the last track down to Bradwell isn't it Greenie? ;)
