It's a sad moment when.....
......you realise you,ve bought your last ever pair of walshes. My poor arthritic toes can't cope with lack of support on downhills any more, so am having to resort to shoes which don't cause so much agony!
Ageing sucks!!!

Hemp seeds are supposed to be good for helping with arthritis. Might be worth looking into and trying.:)
Re: It's a sad moment when....
you realise that not only will you probably never need to buy another pair of 'decent' leather shoes again as the current pair will probably suffice until they close the lid but that its about time you considered who will look after the youngest cat when you can't anymore. That came as a bit of surprise a few weeks back. My stock of Walshes/Inov8 could now outlast me. Still, thats a whole host of Threads about shoes and headtorches I can now ignore :-)

....when you hit 40 & struggle to beat the under 12's at the Bunny Runs !

Barefoot, there's your answer. I wouldn't recommend racing though!

The way I walk in the mornings at the moment.. I think I'm there.. I'm crippled by tendonitis.. those first 5 yards.. people at work laugh that whenever I walk down a flight of stairs or get up from my chair its with a grimace...

Isn't that normal ??
It always amazes me that running up and down hills is OK(ish) but walking dowstairs in the morning OUCH...
Re: It's a sad moment when....
I have a dark suit. This is worn at weddings and funerals, I have no other need for it. Over the years it was worn for many friends weddings, it dawned on me today that it is now worn solely for friends funerals .
Needless to say I was at a friends funeral (some on here may have known Carl Edwards - organiser of Rhayader Mountain Trail, Christmas Cracker, Monks Trod, new Reservoir Roundabout). A sad moment indeed, when indistructable stalwarts start dropping.

You're doing OK. My toes couldn't cope with Walshes in my 20s.
Re: It's a sad moment when....
It's Inov-8s my toes can't cope with. They are so capacious that on steep descents i'm bouncing off the ends no matter how tight the laces are, the tight fitting Walsh is the only shoe that i can use on such races as Winder or Kirk Fell.
